I need HELP and forgive the long post but you need my HDMI/COAX history.

For years my entire in-house TV viewing setup was a HDMI cable from the Hopper 3 feeding to the living room TV and at the same time a RCA cable from the Hopper 3 RCA out ports to the RF modulator that goes to coax cable that goes into a splitter that branches out to the remaining TVs where MIRRORING takes place from the Hopper 3. I have a Joey in the Master Bedroom and NO I don't want Joeys on all the other TVs.

Last week I added the Hopper Plus. The Dish Tech hooked it up to the Hopper 3 and all was fine to the main TV but nothing but static to the other TVs in the house through the modulator. He understood that I was mirroring the Hopper 3 to those other TVs. He said that with the Hopper Plus, there were no RCA out ports and the RCA ports on the Hopper 3 would not do what they previously did, and that I'd needed to do get a HDMI splitter to send the signal to the main TV and to send it to the modulator for the other TVs. To use the current RF modulator I had, I needed a MINI HDMI-Compatible to RCA AV/CVBS Composite Video AV Converter Adapter HDMI2AV. So when I had these items from Amazon, I took the HDMI from the Hopper Plus and split it with an OREI UltraHD 4K @ 60 Hz 1 x 2 HDMI Splitter 1 in 2 Out (2 Port) 4:4:4 8-bit - Does Not Bypass HDCP, 18 Gbps, 4K HDMI splitter with one HDMI to the main TV and a second HDMI to the MINI HDMI-Compatible to RCA AV/CVBS Composite Video AV Converter Adapter HDMI2AV to the RCA to coax modulator and all worked GREAT!

This week something changed with the audio to those TVs where the audio now must be turned up from a level of 10 to 50.

I'm assuming it's a combination of drop in signal with the conversion from HDMI to RCA with the MINI HDMI-RCA converter adapter to the RCA/coax modulator. I can delete the MINI HDMI-RCA converter adapter and the RCA cables by purchasing a HDMI RF modulator to coax and the volume to the other house TVs will be back to normal. Am I correct in this assumption? If so, I need suggestions and opinions for the best HDMI RF modulator for a Hopper Plus that isn't going to cost hundreds of dollars. I've got several of these modulators sitting in my Amazon cart so my fingers are crossed that one of these will make the list for the one to purchase.

Thanks to all.

Last week I added the Hopper Plus.
You are likely to regret this.

I'm guessing that the OREI splitter is lying about what is connected to output 2 (which is what you need).

The modulator's output signal level has no impact on the modulated signal's volume. The modulator converts it from RCA audio to an FM stereo signal (the video is converted from composite to a modulated AM signal). The problem likely lies with the HDMI->RCA converter providing a weak audio level to the modulator's input. Outside of the media converter, almost everything is encoded such that what comes in should be going out at the same level.

A quality HD modulator may cost as much as a couple of Joeys and the monthly fees for a while. An HD modulator will likely also demand that you change the TVs to CATV mode to tune its output.

As an alternative, I suggest you try an Amazon Fire TV stick running the DISH Anywhere app and see if that meets your needs. During the current Spring Sale, they're going for around $25.

Harness, thank you for the suggestions.

I'm sure there is, but I can't make any recommendations as I have no experience with such gear.

How many TVs are we talking about, and how many TVs, other than the HDMI-connected one, will be showing this content at any one time?

A good HD modulator will cost you more than 10 times as much as a Fire TV Stick. The downside of the Fire TV solution is that it only supports one TV at a time.

You can do what I do

Thanks, but not a practical solution for the number of TVs in the household and they're locations.

Understood.

Ten coax connections throughout the house. Two have Joeys, two have nothing connected and three are in extra rooms that rarely are used. The remaining three have TVs connected and sometimes are on at the same time.

The Fire TV is not practical at one then since 3 are sometimes on at the same time.

Do you have a budget? The HDMI ATSC RF Modulator I linked is under $500, and when looking around, I saw there was a SatLink modulator for $258 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/SatLink-ST-7000-Digital-Modulator-Delivers/dp/B08GYNC666/

The $469 Thor Modulator with a higher rating is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RQN6XRS/

I'm less interested in the number of cable outlets than in the number and type of TVs you're trying to connect.

For example, if there are older non-HD TVs that don't feature QAM tuners, an HD modulator may not work. Being CATV capable is not enough.

All are flat screen TVs except one that is the big boxy cabinet TV but it hasn't been turned on since Christmas and that was before the Hopper Plus was installed and eventually the sound issue on the three flat screen TVs. The 3 flat screens with the sound issue, are Samsung and I'll check out the purchase dates and paperwork or their serial #s on the Samsung website about "non-HD TVs that don't feature QAM tuners".

Thanks for still trying to help.

24 team playoff seems to be real close.

Are we really that far from a 64-team tournament?

The benefit of the 24 team playoff:
  • All the cartel teams that cartels want in playoff are in playoff
    • Independent of record too! Bonus.
  • MONEY!!!!! for the cartels.
  • I'm out of ideas.
Cons
  • Regular season really doesn't matter now other than the rivalry games
    • Top cartel teams can lose three games and still make the playoff
  • Going to start resting players?
    • The playoff is going to be *checks notes* several games!
    • Resting players could make games dumb.
    • Maybe even restrict NIL players from games played.
  • How much are streaming sub costs going up a month to pay for this?!

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Just had a customer come in inquiring about internet. He has HughesNet and had heard good things about mine. He asked if we provided email addresses and it kinda caught me off guard. I said he should be able to keep whatever email he had been using....my sister in law is still using a BellSouth email addy and they haven't been around here for many years. He said he had gotten a letter from HughesNet stating that they had until Nov 16th to save, move, forward, whatever, their Hughesnet emails because they would lose them after that date.

I have never heard of a company simply mass-deleting email accounts (the customer still has his HughesNet service). From what I understand, in the past, the company who was ditching their email service simply sold the customer base to a company like Google.

Anyone else getting this letter. He said he would show it to me tomorrow when I go out there and set up his internet.

Doing a Google of the HughesNet Email notice, it seems that HughesNet has been trying to eliminate hosting emails since 2019. And with HughesNet filing Chapter 11 back in August, it would be a smart move to switch to a more stable Email provider. Even AT&T farmed out their Email to Yahoo! years ago.

SpaceX's Starlink and the Cellular 5G Home Internet solutions have pretty much relegated HughesNet and its high latency, low bandwidth Internet service to History. If Earth had shorter days, maybe a Geostationary Internet Solution might have stood a fighting chance…

Well, I helped him set up a gmail acct....I actually wanted to see what the new process is for setting up a gmail acct since it had been years since I set mine up. Anyway, I showed him how to forward the emails he wanted to keep over.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Have you tested using external power? Over the years, have found unpowered polarity switching to be unreliable. Especially problematic when used with DiSEqC motors or switch stacking.
H
No I have not. I just got it the other day and it is connected to six receivers working just fine. What I do is non power mini multi-switches work best with LNBF's and with LNB's
H
It also has a IPS and a OPS switch on the side of it with a power led light showing when is on. It seems to be very nice build switch

Back on the Goliath Roller Coaster ... I'm interested to find more details as well ...
Like where on the track did this happen (somewhere I read that it was on the climb up the top), which is impossible ...

They really need to take that ride and add at the very least, seatbelts ...

The Park is opening back up on Friday, the ride will Not be opening ... personally, I would keep it closed until different type of restraints can be designed and installed (over the winter).

I find it hard to believe that this ride is even allowed to be running with the restraints that exist at the moment, there are other rides that use the same type and they have been shut down across the country.

You got to believe that every ride has at least 2 types of restraint systems in place.

I wonder what and when we will hear from the Manufacturer ... and whatever governing bodies control these ...

Just think, this is a Major Amusement Park .... I would not have any problem getting on the Roller Coasters I have rode ...

Imagine what these County Fairs and others like them, I would not be caught Dead on one of them ... they get put up and tore down every other week, where is the safety for those rides ... No Thank You.

Had no idea there were that many redundancies built into those restraints.
It makes sense, however, I would want more types of restraints, so if one doesn't work, the other does ... the restraints coming over the shoulder I would have expected ... with a Seat belt as last resort.

Fwiw, I inquired with what they use on Coasters at Cedar Point, various Coasters, different restraints according to what the car and track requires ...

NONE of the Coasters at CP use THAT particular system :)
I'm glad to see ...

According to the article, when you see a seat belt on a ride like this, it is basically used as a way of making sure the rider isn't too large/fat to safely ride the ride.
