No relationship at all. There have been channels uplinked that never became available.:)

Having a new channel uplinked is usually a sign that Dish is at least in negotiations with the channel provider. In some cases they take the channel up and down a lot and never reach an agreement (like they did with YES for a few years).

If they never reach an agreement the channel never becomes available to subscribers.

I agree with the above answers, but I wonder how that works with HD locals.

Take the Oklahoma city locals for example, because E already has agreements in place to re-transmit their SD programming will they have to come to a new agreement to show the Hd , or is this just a testing phase?

SD agreements do not mean HD agreements are in place, plus testing has to be done in insure proper delivery of the channels. Dish receives the signals in different ways (sd and Hd channels from same dma can be obtained in a different way). They cannot just put them up and turn them on.

Don't we wish it did though ! The unknown today regarding HD locals is 1) can Dish and the provider not agree on terms, 2) does Dish not have the capacity, or 3) a combination of both.

The one benefit of the analog shut-off in 2009 is that there won't be separate analog channel vs digital channel carriage agreements since there won't be analog channels. Of course, will the TV stations then separate their channels, saying "you can continue carrying (digital) channel 7-2 in place of (analog) channel 7 but we need a separate agreement for (digital) channel 7-1". :(

Hmm how can a channel be made availble without being uplinked..must be some sort of relationship there;)

I would think the latter part would be the case, because even though you wouldn't have analog vs. digital, you'll still have SD vs. HD

That won't work for all stations though (thankfully). My local CBS has (3) channels, one analog, one digital simulcast of the analog, and a weather channel. I doubt they'll replace the weather channel with the analog channel come 2009....

The local ABC currently has no digital sub-channel, nor does the FOX station. Only NBC has an SD (digital) simulcast of the analog in addition to the HD simulcast.

Reports named as "uplinked" when in reality it is "Changes in System Tables"; no info posting about SIGNALS and REAL CONTENT of some part of the reports if it not available for visual inspection.

I just received 6 receiver 2 port mini Multiswitch and it work great, no external power need it, and you can connect 6 receiver instead of 4 on most Mini Multiswitches... If anyone is interested in where they can get one PM me....

Have you tested using external power? Over the years, have found unpowered polarity switching to be unreliable. Especially problematic when used with DiSEqC motors or switch stacking.

I bought the fixed color version of these bulbs for my store several years ago...work great and no more replacing ballast. Finally had one go out and when I went back to Amazon I saw that now they come in selectable versions so no more guess work as to what color light would do best in a certain area. They are now double OR single ended...used to be strictly one way or the other. If any of you are looking at replacing the old style 4 or 8 ft bulbs, you might want to give these a try. The 8 footers are BRIGHT. I put 5 in my shooting/target shed and you can get a decent tan if you are in there long enough.

When we re-lamped my in-Laws' house for sale last year, we were able to get all the Edison bulbs and a few fixtures with switch-selectable Color Temperature. We tried a few and settled on 3000°K as the best fit for the house. Matching the lighting in all the rooms made for an inviting experience. The Shop was the only place that we went with 4000°K for the LED 4' fixtures.

The house was sold within a month of going on the market, so we must have done something right.

The other advantage is if the new owners decide that they prefer a warmer light, they can unscrew the bulbs (I think it was close to 70 bulbs) and set them to the 2500K/2700K settings.

I'll have to check these out. Thanks!

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.
Is anyone else also having the same problem? Thanks in advance.

Just doing a big security update on the server, may slow down then again it may not. Just wanted to warn you guys. :D

Ok the update is complete. :)

Scott, I was having major issues getting connected around noon ET. Looks fine now. I captured a Safari session that was showing high CPU utilization in the Rendering of the page, like 90+%. I have a JSON file I created that I could share.

Been using the site at that time and saw no issues. A quick look at the logs shows nothing strange.

Yeah. It's probably something going on with the MacBook as my iPhone has been pretty snappy.

Love Tony in Charge as director. Liked how the Secretary of Navy told him that the press release about him being the new director of NCIS had went out an hour ago. See you on Monday! when she left. I hate the LaRoche guy and wanted him to get taken down. He reminded me of Pete Hegseth the way he looked and his haircut.

I originally thought that Tim had shot LaRoche .... awhile back when they had that dispute about who was going to Win, when they had him as Dirty ... was I thinking someone else ? (it was obviously, last year.)

Was Gibbs still there when you quit watching ?
If so, A Lot has happened ....

It's been pretty good all along , once you get use to Gibbs being gone.

Howard ...
You don't like Tony, or Tony as the Director (he's only been there for 30 seconds now) or you don't like NCIS ?

Apple has finally released their Apple TV 4K with built-in Siri and a microphone so it can respond to your queries even if you don't have the remote. It also increases in price, to $299. I had been planning on updating my current Apple TV 4K streamers, but that's $600 for the two of them, and that's a pass at this point.

At $299, it had better come with 256 GB of Storage, Gigabit (or better) Ethernet, the latest HDMI tech and standards, and one year of free Apple One. But it probably won't…

Meh. The 4Ks I have will do everything that these do that I need them to do.

Which that's most tech these days for anything released the last four to five years.

It's honestly a testament to how good the previous gen Apple TVs were and are.

Don't tell them that. They'll adopt planned obsolescence.

The only thing I can see that is compelling is the AV1 decoding done in the A19's hardware instead of the current ATV4K's processor.

Outside of gaming, would Joe Sixpack notice any difference?

On Tuesday, I recorded the first episodes of the new season's NCIS shows on CBS (Dish provided, not OTA). The new New York series and Origins will both do Auto Skip, but the original, now season 24 does not. What's stranger, when I do a search for NCIS, Origins and New York show the current recording and the next episode it will record, but the original show only shows the current recording and some other channel showing the very first episode of season one. It makes no sense. When I set up the timers, I was able to use search for Origins and New York, but for the original, I had to scroll ahead in the guide until last Tuesday when the show was airing. Then set the timer from there. You can see its timer type is DVR where the other two are Seek. What am I missing?
Thanks!

With both CBS and Fox autohop (as we know) is not enabled for a week..But after 24 hours if you mash the FF button until the red kangaroo shows up in the bottom right you wont overshoot the program. No need to try to figure how long the break is.

Yep. We do this all the time, but we use the 30-sec skip forward button until the red kangaroo shows up. Love this feature.
