Walrus1957-

The positioning of the LNB is probably the reason why our results are different.
If I get a chance I might try the LNB at the center of the dish again. I would have tried it right away but with all the tie-wraps....... My setup is kind of permanent. I can't change the center LNB without removing the C-Band LNB completely. I guess I wasn't thinking when I was attached the C-Band LNB.

Pro96-

When I last tried the C-Band LNB at the center of the dish, my signal qualities were only 1-3% higher than when the LNB is on the side.

Since the Ku-Band is at a higher frequency rang than the C-Band it is much more sensitive to being at the focal point.
So if you offset the Ku-Band LNB you will loose a lot more signal quality than if you offset the C-Band LNB.

OK good explanation on that. Makes perfect sense of that doubt.
So when you have the center Ku LNB at lets say 105w, where will be CBAND LNB be pointing at?

When I have the center Ku-Band LNB pointing at 104.5°W, the C-Band LNB will be pointing at 99.0°W (The C-Band is "positioned" ~5.5° less than the Ku band LNB.)

This offset depends on how close you can get the offset LNB to the center LNB.

OK, am try to mimic your setup on my 1.2m see how it goes

Good Luck!

I will be interested in seeing and hearing about your progress, and what works best for you.

Hopefully this week, but right now the winds started to pickup once again which will delay my mission

I don't know... this week I'd be more worried about the earthquakes 'n aftershocks! -

well when it goes from the 60's to the 80's in a day or 2 that is definitely earthquake weather indeed

My setup was a 1.2 m dish with h-h motor and the P* with a h-h motor and a 4 port diseqc switch. One receiver using USALS for the P* and diseqc 1.2 for the 1.2 m. Works ok. I mostly watch the sports on C band and didn't really need the bigger dish or scalar for that so I took that dish down.
So on the P* I have a universal, standard, circular and C lnbf.

I did try to add separate KU and Cband Lnbs to my setup last summer, but was unsuccessful. This has peaked my interest again.:)

memory serves me right your using a 1.2 m offset.
Search back for Dreamfox, he had really good results and confirmed what Walrus 1957 says about the 1/8" scalar setting.

I don't think you will see a real change mounting the C offset or the Ku offset. But the C is much easier to find a signal with.

Good to see this idea still alive :)

Going to venture into DVB-S2 territory to see what i can catch.

Using an original SG2100 to its limits.

Still works but don't know for how long.

Going to upgrade the motor as soon as possible to a metal gear version.

As to what i can see.....well all i can say is alot of good stuff:D

I've got the Sadoun dg380 motor on a GeoSatPro 1.2 and it works good.

Please check your PM's.

Yeah, it is 1.2M Geosat Pro dish. I was successful with the C-band by itself dead center, but when I tried Linear KU at dead center and C-band as offset, I couldn't pull in any signals from the C-band LNB.

Working with offset lnbf was a nightmare for my mind in the beginning. Now I can get them lined up and scanned in easily. Like I said earlier, Ku Offset or c band offset didn't make any change for me. When you think about it the dish has but one focal distance and if it is offset will not change the gain. That is to a certain point.

The way you tune in the lnbf and scalar seems to be the secret. While some have gotten good results others have done better.

Pic I found on other site helps to understand offsets.
