I recently picked up a 1.2m dish that was on my brother-in-law's Pub. He told me that about 6 years ago he had it for XM Radio. The dish looks like a Channel Master but has no name on it. The LNB looks like a very well made unit fron Japan. It's made by Norsat and is a 7000A series model no. GM-6921 with 11.7-12.2GHZ range. MY question is, is this LNB suitable to receive FTA on G18 at 123West? Thank you in advance for your input.

From the specs, I'd say definitely "Yes" . 11.7-12.2 GHZ is our standard linear lnbf. I think, though, that you should consider giving ME that dish, since you probably won't appreciate it!
:)
Good luck with it, keep us informed .

I'll take it

Has molded ribs on the back side of the dish?
It sounds like a nice commercial dish, and way beyond what's necessary for that bird.
. . . unless you live at the bottom of a lake . . . :D

So, I agree: give it to Brent and he'll extol your virtues for years! -

Welcome aboard!
Get it fired up and post some pictures.
If you have any trouble, post some pictures and we'll help.
Oh, and one more thing: be sure to post some nice pictures. - :up

That LNB will work fine for Ku FTA, as will the dish. One thing to consider is that the feedhorn is almost certainly set up for single-polarity operation (especially if there is only one Norsat LNB on it). Could you post some pictures, with close-ups of the feedhorn and LNB assembly? (I'm beginning to sound like a certain green friend of ours :D)

Thank you everyone for your responce, sorry it took two weekends to get the pictures up. My wife had me doing the honeydue list.

Anole, here's the pictures you where looking for. And Tron, does this look like a single-polarity LMB.

I appreciate your input.

Nice looking pictures. Here's the live link to 'em.

I'm sure I would love that dish.
I'm sure Brent will be broken hearted.
I'm sure Tron will glean something from the picture.

But, what writing is on the LNB?
That might be helpful.

The logo on the dish is hard to read.
What does it say?

Meanwhile, I'll be salivating. :D

Its hard to tell about the LNB polarity. The feedhorn seems to be standard C-120, and it looks like there MIGHT be a waveguide in there between it and the LNB, which would indicate single polarity. Since most commercial dishes don't use voltage switching LNBs, I would say odds are it is a single polarity LNB.

I think you're right Cavsolutions, it looks like a Prodelin dish. Thanks for the info.
Anole, the only thing on the lnb is Norsat 7000A Series Module GM-6921 11.7-12.2 GHZ and a serial number. As far as the logo goes, it's so faded it's unreadable but I assume it's XM RADIO.
