Eastern PA
hi. so what's the deal. can I still use a 1000.4 in eastern PA for SD and HD? Shold I tryt he 1000.2 again? Last summer I could not get signal from 129 with the 1000.2

Also, When looking up the Azimuth, it sayd True = 235.5 / Magnetic = 247.4. Which is the correct to use? I usually start between the two and fine tune left or right?

I agree with Gary. If you are using a compass then magnetic is what I would use for a starting point.

thanks. i do actually get a decent signal on 129 but, as stated, my local HD channels are on 61.5. Tomorrow i'll set up my 1000.4 dish. PIA having to carry 2 dishes around (1000.2 for texas and 1000.4 for PA).

Does DTV do it this way too?

now I need help from the guru's.

I used the dishpointer.com web site to find my angles. My zip code is 19530.

I put the 1000.4 dish on my tripod this morning. The tripod IS level and plumb. I set the Azimuth to 187; Elevation to 43 and Skew to 86. I used a meter to obtain the strongest signal. I can can 1 bird at a time, but not all three. I ran check switch each time and got 61.5, 72.7 or 77 showing up in the 1st position. I never was able to get all three at the same time. On the signal meter (6-1-1), I got a few readings.

  • I received signal from 72.7 on both the 61.5 and 72 settings.
  • after moving the dish I got 77 on both 72.7 and 77 settings.
  • I was never able to get 61.5 on 61.5; 72.7 an 72; 77 on 77.
I almost acts as if the skew is wrong or the LNB internal switch isn't working. But that is my thoughts.

Any of you guru's have any idea what is wrong.

What's on the center feed

Cover up the 2 LNB's on the ends and find out what sat is showing up on the center LNB only.

thanks for the idea, but that is what I was doing. should have mentioned that too.

i had a great signal on 72 with the outer LNBs covered. when I uncovered them, they all saw 72.7. if i covered them and zero'ed in on 61.5, they all saw 61.5.

that is what was making me nuts.

It sounds like the switch in the dish is bad.
