read this thread: http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/...r-your-perusal to see if any in your area & put out an ad saying your looking for a large old satellite dish.
my choices for dishes in order:
1. Channel Master 10 foot (3.0M) Fiberglass (the newer version with ribbing on back) or 10 foot solid metal
2. Birdview
3. 10 foot perforated (Paraclipse or equivalent)
4. Channel Master 8 foot Fiberglass (the newer version with ribbing on back)

Yep or get out and do a drive and if you see one in the wild, stop, knock, and ask. :)

I picked up a 7.5ft SAMI FREE like that a few years back. Got a 10ft Unimesh by advertising in the local Trader Paper/Message Board paper back earlier in the summer that was only about 4 miles from me sitting in the woods. Gave $100 for that one.

am working on one myself locally (10ft). Left deposit so its mine for now.

sorry to hijack a thread but pro96 i know you'd been looking for a good dish for a while .... congrats thats a very nice Winegard perforated. you should like that one a lot :)

sure have and always wanted one a few miles away from me and this one could be the one .. Winegard Quadstar 10 foot

Goodmi, pro96 has been shopping for something larger for some time, now.
He scored, so be encouraged by his patience and success.
.
When I first started looking, I didn't think any Birdview dishes made it to the west coast.
Then in the next few years, I discovered more than half a dozen out here.
Including a beauty only 20 minutes away. :)
.
?So don't be discourage if you haven't found a suitable dish the first month.
.
.
PS: congrats to pro96. :up

Thanks.. it will be transported via full size truck and the drive is less then 4 miles tops. Need to find an old huge big tire to lay the dish facing up and bring it whole..(as pictured)

the heavy brush and branches were cleaned up and as you can see the dish was not damaged by it (it sat unmoved for 10yrs according to seller).
just a bit dirty on one panel. Jet clean time!

The actual remove date is set for the 12th of Oct.

hehe we will see. I will post back when I am 100% up and running it.

6' is bad everywhere, but if it's all that you can get,all that will fit or all that will be tolerated,it's better than no dish at all.:D

Not exactly bad, but not as good. You can almost think of it like cable tv.

Basic ( a lot of good channels) = 6ft
Tier 1 (even more to watch) = 8ft
tier 2 (even more) = 10 - 12ft

True, but in my case, most,if not all of what I use my dishes for could not be gotten with a 6',in my location.
