Hello,

I have seen the information about not having sound on some of the transponders like (Create) on 125W. My Montana channel works pretty good most of the time. But some of the PBS channels don't have sound. Can somebody help or point me in the right forum to read?

I believe the channels you are not getting sound on are AC-3 audio. You will need a capable home stereo, HD receiver or a Sonic Voom unit to get audio on those.

I have been using a Sonic Voom for a couple years and they work great, used to be able to get them for about 20 bucks on eBay.

Hello,

I tried for an hour with digital cable to the rear of my reciever (CNX-Nano).
I am hooking to a HD 32 Sony TV. I must be doing somethhing wrong. Does the reciever box have to be able to recieve HD broadcast? Mine is standard. Do I need to put the cable form my radio reciever to the satellite box? I guess I need some better help...........

Dolby Digital Bitstream Out through S/PDIF (optical) to S/PDIF input of decoder (TV, Sonic-Voom, Stereo) Select S/PDIF input, should be a go. Don't know if you have to program that STB to enable the S/PDIF output tho. My 3500 is on all the time

I just tried this with my CNX-DUO.,
Connected a coax to SPDIF from the CNX to my Sonic Voom box.
Tuned to 125W TP 12180 V.
Was able to get sound from all 3 channels.
That is -
Create
V-me
PBS World
Sound is working just great. Did not have to configure anything on the CNX.
Also hooked up a light fibre from CNX to Sonic Voom - still got sound.

Can't offer any help with your TV.
My TV only takes digital audio in through a HDMI cable - which of course you can't use with CNX.

Keystone. I could be wrong, but I understand your stb only let´s through the ac3 signal but it won´t decode it. That´s why you need an ac3 decoding stereo, tv or the sonic voom. I get my audio from a pansat 3500 through an optical cable to a sony a/v receiver. Works great. Luck!

I got my Sonic Voom off Ebay couple of years back.It was about $21 incl shipping
I just checked Ebay and only see 1 for sale and it's $39.99 - bit overpriced ?
I also tried a Creative Extigy external sound module - it worked but had occasional sound drop outs
The extigy is no longer in production.

Just FYI - you can connect the Sonic Voom output to the TV - and it's fine for Stereo AC3 sound.
But if you tune to a 5.1 surround channel you may miss some sound - as the Sonic Voom has a proprietary connector for the 5 channel output.
You can use the headphones (included with the Sonic Voom) for 5 chan -
I never liked the h/phones - a bit "hissy".

Further search of Ebay turned up another seller of Sonic Voom.
Listed as "SONIC VOOM SURROUND HEADPHONES - REDUCED PRICE" for $9.99 + $9.92 shipping.
Sounds like a better deal - but you never know with Ebay (lol).

I bought mine from Amazon for $17. Yes a bit more but from a no risk vendor thru Amazon. Free shipping if your order is over $25. I cut the headphones off and used the in line amp to boost the level to my av input. Audio level out of the decoder box is a little low if you just try to use the mini headphone jack. Works very good, and the receiver passes thru regular audio thru the spdif output automatically. One connection does all. It comes with a spdif coax cable and a fiber optic cable, will work with either output from your reciever.

Soundblaster Creative Extigy external sound module works, and I love it. Lots of various inputs and outputs for sounds. Makes it possible to do a lot of things, like not just having the input from the reciever to get dolby digital tv sound, but also hooking up a long audio stereo extension cord from a computer (you can get these cheap at Radio Shack) so you can get internet radio in your living room easily without having to use a wii, xbox, etc.

The bitstream jack on most HDTVs is an output, not an input. It's there to allow you to send DD5.1 sound tuned from ATSC broadcasts to an external audio receiver.

Apparently I was hooking the cable to the TV that I thought would work fine. Guess, it didn't. I am using a Sony HD and I thought it would be fine. I went to the other two slaved tv's and the cable worked with my stereo systems and not going straight to the tv's. Something else I noticed with one of my nano's. One that I bought from online used, the digital cable would not snap into the back but would on my other. So, I think I had few problems to work out. Got it working on the other tv's, and thanks for all the help!!!

Glad you got it working! I'm using the Sonic Voom for my AC-3 decoding. The analog output from the unit is attached to the Sammy 26 inch HDTV that I use with my PC.
