139w shutting down?

Was trying to scan the radio stations in on 139 noticed transponders missing. Anyone else seeing this?

AMC-8 is at it's EOL(End of Life).

Everything has moved or is now duplicated elsewhere. I believe the satellite is powered down in June. Orbital position 139 will NOT be replaced.

I saw on another form that they change the symbol rate on some of the transponders and now the locals out of Alaska are free and open. Unfortunately my dish is not able to hit them

Yes I noticed that last night as I got mine up and running, the Alaska channels are open. Didn't know it was going down soon. I still get great signal quality over there.

It is not correct that everything has moved off AMC-8, it is very much alive. It is true that EOL is nearing, but not yet. It will be replaced by AMC-18 in the same location, 139.

Actually AMC-8 is not being replaced as noted above by others, however AMC-18 was moved to 139 like all the industry sources currently show.

They changed to a spot beam a few months ago. My signal here in eastern Washington went from low 90's to 70, but I still get 8 clear channels.
