Sorry if this has been hashed over already but I couldn't find the thread.

I'm on HDAbsolute but my wife wants E! and Nickelodeon so I'm looking into Classic Silver 200 with HD. It looks like it wouldn't cost me much extra if the $15 discount applies. I chatted with a CSR that wouldn't give me that discount.

So I have 2 questions -- has anybody that is on contract (I have about 6 months left) or any current customer gotten the $15 discount. And, does the discount apply for the entire 24 month commitment or does it only apply for some period and then you're stuck at the higher rate for the rest of the contract period?

Thanks.

go online (login to your dishnetwork account) and look under "offers" I know they were offering $10 off for 12 months with a 2 year contract extension

Have never seen the 15, just the 10 for 12 as juan said. You will never get a full two year discount. And keep in mind, there will be a price increase in February, commitment or not.

There's a $15 off for 12 month deal on the Dish web site now, but it's for new customers only.

Just wait 6 months. Then call into Dish ask for an Account Specialist. Tell the "Look I've been a good paying customer for x amount of years, and I'm trying to cut some costs out of my monthly expenses. I am out of my contract and could leave for DirecTv to get their promo, but I wanted to give you (Dish) a chance to keep me as a valued customer first. I would be willing to sign up for another 24 months, and upgrade my channel package if you can give me the new customer promo."

All they can do is say "no".

I am going to try that myself come next November. I have been with Dish since July 2000 but it looks like I might get a better deal from cable (never saw that one coming). If Dish can meet their price for a full two years then I will stay. If not, its adios to Charlie.

Better yet, TWC doesn't require a contract. I am going to get their internet service anyway. It will be veeery tempting to get their TV service too.

As much as prices have went up, customers expect to get some kind of deal and the company expect to have to give deals to retain their customers. I would rather get a deal to stay where I am at even if it is not quite as good as signing up as a new customer elsewhere if they can continue giving me deals once in a while. It makes you feel like you are appreciated as a customer.

Absolute subs didn't see an increase last time, and hopefully not this coming time either! Stick with it. Now don't get anyone started on the Turbo Subs, they got the worst deal ever.
