Another interesting angle for a potential Pats-Niners matchup: Brady would be trying to equal his childhood idol (and Terry Bradshaw) for Super Bowl rings.

Also, Brady needs two more postseason wins to be the NFL all-time leader. Again, he's chasing his idol Joe Montana who has 16 postseason wins. Brady is now tied with Bradshaw for second place (15 postseason wins each).

There were 4 offensive lead changes in the last 4 minutes. While you can probably credit San Fran's defense for creating 5 New Orleans' turnovers, it was the offense that won the game.
The SF defense kept them in the game. Otherwise, it would have been NO 55, SF 35.

During the regular season, New Orleans scored an average of 34.2 pts per game. On Saturday, they scored 32. The moral of the story is that New Orleans did what they do. They put up 30 some odd points. The same average they do week in and week out. The difference, at least from my perspective was their offense. San Francisco was able to go back and forth, and eventually over and above what was required to win the game. And that was score more than New Orleans.

Only by forcing five turnovers.

Very early predictions for next weekend: both home teams win squeakers, And we get AFC's best offense vs. NFC's best defense.

I'd like to see the Giants vs the Patriots. with NE's weak defense and high powered offense, i would expect a shootout between Eli and Tom.

Not really, because a month ago when they played the Broncos were close. If not for the unusual turnovers it was a ball game. This weekend however was a complete and utter beat down on both sides of the ball.
No matter how it happened, "close" is a bit of a stretch. After the Broncos early flurry, New England outscored them 34-7. If it were the other way around, you would've been calling it a beat down. I would have too.

For all we know, this might be the year where Joe Flacco proves or wants to prove that his name belongs among the elite QB's. I still remember when they called Terry Bradshaw "dumb." 4 Super Bowl wins later & he's in the Hall of Fame. A Harbaugh versus Harbaugh Super Bowl is just as intriguing as a Patriots-49ers or Patriots-Giants. As a side note,I know that the 49ers have never lost a Super Bowl, but I don't think that the Giants have ever lost a Super Bowl either.

The Giants lost to the Ravens in 2000. Google not working today?

I get it you think the Ravens are winning this week, just like you thought the Dolphins, Bills and Broncos were going to win the last 3 weeks.

A good STRONG defense, which the 49ers,Giants,AND Ravens have, still wins games. The Patriots defense is ranked 31st. I still hold that the winner of this year's Super Bowl will come out of the NFC. The Ravens have a strong enough defense to compete with either though. We've also seen how far a high scoring offense can take a team against the 49ers &/or Giants with the Saints & Packers being knocked out of the playoffs. Tom Brady is the last QB standing who has thrown over 5,000 yards(unless I missed something by not "googling" Eli Manning,Alex Smith,or Joe Flacco). Also the Dolphins,Bills,& Broncos are no comparison whatsoever to the 49ers,Giants,or Ravens.

You do realize that only 3 QBs have ever done that, right??

This season Drew Brees,Tom Brady,& Matthew Stafford. I also remember Dan Marino being the best passer in the NFL when the 49ers defeated him & the Dolphins in the Super Bowl.

Different game now. It is now a pass happy league where rules lean heavily towards the offense.

If Marino played now in his prime with these rules, the size of offensive linemen now and the speed of the game, he might throw for 7,000 yards.
