Other than Detroit and Indy, who in the north has a dome. The Vikings are moving back outside. Packers, Bears, Eagles, Bills, Steelers, Giants, Jets, Patriots, Redskins, Ravens all outdoors.

Playing in the cold and or weather, aren't BOTH teams playing on the same surface ?
It happens with the overwhelming majority of football games. VERY few are played in snow or any kind of bad weather. We had 1 bowl game this year, and it will more than likely be the only one. Have we had any NFL games this year in the snow? You act as though these games happen all the time and its how football should be played. Reality is they are very rare.
Absolutely. But one adds a obstacle while the other makes the only obstacle the other team. Why should you play against the other team and mother nature. Why not just the other team.
Do you REALLY want to know why that is ?
It's so Fans don't have to deal with the elements and the media that is always crying about having to cover a cold game in a Playoff/SB game.
Playing the game has NOTHING to do with the game of Football...
Was REALLY disappointed when the Vikings built a indoor stadium.
Saw a lot of GREAT OUTDOOR games played there when I was growing up, following the Lions and Vikings.
Its about 15* up here playing football outside is GREAT...
Imagine a southern team having to deal with that ...
Doesn't have to be snow.
Why would you think it's a disadvantage to you southern teams, the northern teams have to deal with it ... why should they all cater to you southern teams.
Afraid your teams aren't quite as good if you have to concentrate in the cold ?
Home field advantage, otherwise Florida and the rest of the sec teams can leave the south if it doesn't make a difference.
I don't care if it's raining, snowing whatever. I just believe football like baseball is a game meant to be played outdoors. Home field advantage too. Some teams might prefer a longer turf others a shorter turf, that is their prerogative for their field. Strategy is a part of the game and part of that strategy is home field advantage.
I believe next season they are supposed to move over to Minnesota U's stadium and use it for 3-5 yrs (not sure) until the Metrodome is torn down and the new stadium built on that site

they don't like the cold, but they want everyone to come play in the oppressive heat and humidity of Florida and the deep south, but there's no advantage there

Cold is not an issue, i dont have a problem playing in cold or heat. Its snow and rain etc that is the issue. The big 10 regular season ends what thanksgiving weekend? Whens the last time it was 15 degrees before thanksgiving? You act like the northern teams are battle tested in the cold. Whens the last time OSU had to play in 15* weather? Or heck 50 or below for that matter.
I can't believe that I'm sitting here watching a Bowl Game at almost 1:30 AM. And I'm equally surprised I haven't seen NoDoz and 5-Hour Energy sponsor ads.

The Minnesota game was much better than I expected as well.
