I believe those markets are missing a local channel or two due to the market size, so those do not surprise me to see them in HD.

Seriously, the only way to get PBS HD (on Dish) is to be in a tiny market? I would think the priority would be to get the channels to the largest audience in the major markets.

This raises a lot of questions:

Did I miss it, what happened to FOX-6 which i owned by WGGB and transmits in HD, and the low power CSB owned by WSFB?

They are both there on the report.

Yep...you got it. There's that law where by certain date Dish has to carry all of the HD channels in a percentage of the markets. So what's the easy way to do this? Add PBS-HD where that is the only HD channel they are missing. Your government at work for you! ;)

Evansville Ind. will be torked!!

I think it comes from the dumb happy look that Peter Tork of the Monkees always had on his face.

Technically, it's torqued. As in stabbing a knife in someone's back and applying torque to the handle to really make it hurt...

Well Evansville was uplinked back on 11/4/09 . So hopefully they will go live instead of getting stabbed in the back.... :)

all 4 of the Springfield MA channels are there, the wggbd at the bottom of the report is fox 6 and the wshm is cbs.also the Albany NY market is really not much bigger than the Springfield MA market, maybe by around 100,000 people.

I am glad Dish is adding our HD locals. I'm also glad Direct is adding them. Competition and choice is good for everyone.

Exciting / surprising news about the Monroe / El Dorado channels being uplinked! Even if it requires another (hopefully inexpensive) installation to pick them up. i didn't see the local ABC affiliate on the list, but that's a channel that comes in pretty well OTA.

Very interesting about DirectTV locals. Since they have never offered even SD locals here, I would never have considered subscribing. Probably still won't, if I can get the HD locals from Dish soon without much expense. Even with the recent price increase, Dish seems to have the national HD lead well in hand. And I'm a little ticked with DirecTV for ignoring this market for so long.

Just a theory about the Pittsburgh locals...

They may keep the channels mirrored on both the EA and WA because many people in the Pitt area can't get one or the other because of the terrain (hills, mountains, etc.). Keeping them mirrored on both arcs gives them the best penetration into that market that they can get.

It is weird that CBS is only up in SD though. My wife will kill me if she has to watch the Patriots in SD.

Albany is DMA 57 with 554,070 people, Springfield is DMA 111 with 262,960 viewers

It is obvious when you read their wikipedia info. They are still transmitting an analog signal.

I wouldn't switch either. I like Dish for the hardware. I say it all the time... 722K with an OTA module is awesome.

I went through all the missing station cities and affiliations for 77w today and added/corrected the data. I reran the report and pushed another update to TheList.

One of the couple of PITA manual processes I have to update on the uplink tool since there really isn't a database out there with the info I need. But oh well...it is worth it since we can see exactly which locals they are.

TV Japan

TV Japan was removed from my guide. I find it now on 641. I am not in Hawaii.
