Happened to be looking thru the museum and found the Feb issue. Just thought some may get some pleasure in reading an article, for posterity, history, whatever. Also including some ads, for the same reasons. If this constitutes a copyright infringement, please delete this post. (I wouldn't think so, as it's 20 yrs since publication)

So now we have nine degree spacing. What ever became of the applications for the four and a half degree,"midpoint" slots?

Obsolescence cuts both ways. Did any of you ever have to fight with the ATCi Simulsat-3s when the transition to digital C-band began? They had been engineered for three degree analog, and you could usually get away with them at two degree spacing as long as all the signals were analog, but once there were digital signals on adjacent birds, the spillover onto G-5 became unbearable.

"Spinclination" Plie-a-clips.

I don't remember Sears getting into the business.

I think the Sears was a re-branded RatShak, Archer, whatever it was called. Although, I think a "high end" model used an H to H mount. There was 2 of them sold around here, BITD, that I know of.

Interesting bit of satellite history. Thanks.

"Sears, where America shops." Tandy, Realistic, Microanta, etc etc. ;)
