Apparently you do not get one when you buy a 922.

I've got a pink videocipher from another receiver dated May 1999. It has a slot for a card of somekind but there is no card in it. Do I need a card? Where do I get one?

The card was never required as the encryption was never compromised. Kinda like how the cardless E* are.....except for the never compromised part.

So I can put this Videocipher RS module in the 922 and it will work...Yes? I can subscribe to stuff and all?

Greg, I'm not sure, but I think the module is needed for the analog Videocipher channels. If it's the Digicipher channels you want, you don't need one, at least that's what I think. If I didn't have mine in a rack, I'd pull the module out and see if the DCII still works. But, I could be wrong.

Not sure it matters since it RS but what color is the VCII module? Just call NPS or SkyVision and you should get setup.

Yes If you do not plan on subing to analog feeds, then you do not need to put the VC board inside, the 4dtv is the DC board on its own.

Actually it was compromised!

Actually it was compromised by some canadians...The main reason they did not go for the card was that analog VCII was already on then decline and subs were shrinking quickly as the "new pizza" pan was coming in...as well as digicypher 4dtv.

There is a guy on Ebay that sells rebuilt ones with a "preview" chip that one lets you see a pic with a Noisbar in the pic but no sound...he says it is legal but i doubt it! Sells it for watchinfg sports and Porno he claims!

There is another better one but who cares anyway!

It is Motorola D-Cypher that I do not believe has been beaten...No more market for the crooks to get at so I guess they stopped trying....

since everything is going digital and VCII is analog, why bother...there are still things like the scifi channel, USA etc but who knows.

if you want...PM me. I have few spares with new batteries I made up as a hobby and will sell one to you cheap! (ONLY A NEW BATTERY...NOT MODDED EVER!

I still say you do not need it unless you want an analog scrambled channel that is VCII! If you do get one...make sure the battery was changed recently! They stopped production in the early 90's

I do not believe the VCII+ or VCRS was ever compromised, I think you maybe confused with the older VCII black cage boards, there was rumor about the plus and RS many years ago but no proof, anyway a bit off topic now, and the fact that it is not allowed to be discussed... hope I don't get in truble :)

The one I have is a purple/pinkish color and it says May 1999. It says VideocipherRS on it.

I wish it would quit raining so I could go outside

As the owner of an r5000 modded 922, I'd like to see everything go digital but I still have my VCII module. IMO, there's still too many main stream channels that aren't digital to do without. There's also still a few unscrambled channels that the VCII modules are good for too.

I think the digicipher is built in.

The Videocipher is the big module...mine had one from ebay, but it was old and the battery died in a couple months.

I got a refurb videocipher (ebay) that works well.
