I was wondering if 4DTV's are still useful for anything before I list it on ebay.
I've got one and it's High Def unit. Just been sitting for years
They didn't send any "kill code",both my boxes were hooked up and operating through the entire period and they never missed a beat.Worked fine then and still working fine now, just not much to pick up with them anymore. So it proved to me. That they did send a code to shut the box down. Like I had read
Same here, still using it, no kill code was ever sent. They didn't send any "kill code",both my boxes were hooked up and operating through the entire period and they never missed a beat.Worked fine then and still working fine now, just not much to pick up with them anymore.
When the battery dies you lose the unit ID and it reverts back to the factory settings the next time the unit loses power.Still have 2 4dtv units. but I'm tired of feeding them electricity. one still moves a dish. the other I hope to one day soon..lol
Is this below right ?
if I let the battery (ies) die it will lose the Sat's they both know (well the one I use). then I'll have to reprogram them back in..... this is what I recall.
Thanks for reading and any help.
ThanksWhen the battery dies you lose the unit ID and it reverts back to the factory settings the next time the unit loses power.
The ID doesn't matter anymore but if you replace the battery you can still use it as a dish mover. However, you will only have the limited number of sat positions that came from the factory. You would need the Map Master program and the USB interface cable ($70) to restore all the sat positions. You could send it to someone to do the MM but the shipping charges alone would probably run a $100 or more.
If you replace the battery before the original dies you retain the ID and the current memory.
Thanks
I did not know it became a door stop when the battery died. guess my memory is fading.
