I'm sure PPV is a combination of "because they can" and what the market will bear. Sports and entertainment are pretty much recession-proof. People will pay whatever is asked, and prices will continue to rise regardless of the market because the model is built that way. Something has to give.
Agree, and that's why this tread exist.
People are reaching their peak.
 
In years of Cable and Satellite viewing I have never once intentionally watched ESPN or any other sports channel, nor any Disney channel. That I am forced to send them a bunch of my money every month for something I don't want really annoys me. Back in the old C-Band days I was able to pick which channels I wanted as I sort of could with Bell ExpressVu. It seems like this is the type of thing that is driving customers away from cable and satellite and towards streaming services. Maybe one day the providers will take notice.
