I thought I read this before, but now I can't find it.

How many things can a 622 with an OTA antenna tune it at once?

Can it record/view a combination of 2 SD Sat Channels, 1 HD sat Channel, and 1 HD OTA Channel, totaling 4 channels at once, or...

Can it record/view a combination of 2 SD Sat Channels, 2 HD sat Channels, and 1 HD OTA Channel, totaling 5 channels at once, or...

I vagualy recall seeing the "5 channel" answer somewhere, but can't remember where. I also vaguaely recal reading "3 channels" somehwere, but can't remember if it was for the 942 or the 622..

Or am I imagining things and none of this is accurate, can someone set me straight?

Thanks!

It can record 2 sat channels simultaneously. HD is not relevant, the receiver tunes to the channel and records the stream (HD decoding is done at playback).

It can record 1 OTA digital channel, independent of the above.

That's up to three simultaneous recordings.

Independent of the above, you can view two outputs of recorded material independent of each other on TV1 out and TV2 out in dual mode.

That's the five, three recording and two viewing, five different programs/channels.

And it does a heck of a job in this manner too.

I have done the following in Single Mode.

Record 2 Sat channels while recording 1 OTA HD feed. Doesnt matter if the Sat channels are HD or not, it still works.

Top it off.... while recording all 3 you can playback a previous recording.

This is the most awesome undocumented feature of this box IMHO.

I have a 942 and did the "5 at a time" thing for fun and to test if HDD I/O was sufficient.

The 942 is nearly identical to the 622 in this respect.

The other thing I thought of that may be different is that the 942 is supposed to be able to tune OTA analog broadcasts as well as digital--which may mean a 4th tuner. I don't know anything about the truth of this since I get all our locals digital so I have no use/need for it.
