Maybe it would just be easier to add the capability to simultaneously record more than 2 events from the satellite. Again, OTA is not a option for me. We love the 722 - just want it do more.

But then you have to add another tuner/s. You've got two tuners today, thus the ability to record two programs at the same time. Adding more tuners also means that you have to add inputs and cabling from the dish to the receiver. The separator only handles two feeds.
Theoretically you could record more than one stream IF the channels are all on the same transponder. But that might require different tuner/demuxing hardware, so this is quite a stretch. I can't imagine Dish engineering ever adding such a thing.
