Current equipment is 811,311,dp34, and superdish pointed at 110,119 and 105. (105 is not in use here, was for locals)

I have had the 811 replaced twice, and they have failed. Last replacement worked for about a week. Just installed it on Sept 06,2007.

Will the vip 211 work with the above equipment? I do not have the HD package with the 811, just use the 811 for local OTA signals.

Reguirements are for the AT200 package and HD OTA...No HD from Dish.

The 811 is not working again..refurbished units were the items sent.

trouble shooting, I replaced the 811 with the 311 every thing works fine, switch check is good on 311 and the signal strength is good also on both 110 and 119.

moved 811 to 311 location, same problem, no even transponders, 811 check switch fails.(odd, odd, odd)

311 works great in both locations. thus it appears the receiver is at fault. 311 should shows that cable, connectors, switch, lbn's are working. 811 will not function in either location.

Is there a big difference in the 311 vs the 811 that the 311 would work where the 811 will not?

will a vip 211 work with my setup? Just swap out the 811 for the vip 211?

Thanks Bob

Yes to both. You'll get charged $6.00 extra for not having the HD package and having a ViP receiver.

Same Problem Here

BobFlyer,
I have almost the same problem. I can;t get locals on my 811/superdish. They are now sending a SECOND replacement receiver and I had to pay Dish Network $29.00 to come out and tell me that I was right all along (that the 811 is the problem). Dish Network refuses to send me a 311 replacement.

What they've given me does not work. I pay for locals, but I'm not getting service. I pay for a warranty but their replacements don't work.

The technicians can't fix the problem. The phone techs can't even diagnose the problem. They either do not speak or understand English very well.

Please let me know how they resolve your problem! I'll bookmark this thread.

Yeah..the 811 is a boat anchor. If you upgrade to a 211 via dis'n it up and declne the HD programing ,you'll incur a $6 per month enabling fee on the 211. You may connect a 211 with your current set up..no problem.

One caveat - If you were using the 811 to tune ANALOG OTA signals, which it could do, just know that the ViP 211 has no analog tuner. After Feb.'09 however, that will be a non-issue.
