activate DVR on website

I can't find a place where I can activate a new R10 that I bought from ValueElectronics from my account at directv.com. I can add equipment but its only if I purchase from Directv. Am I right in thinking I have to call them to get it added and activated? Thanks.

What if I bought my dvr on Ebay to replace my standard receiver and it came with a card, and I pluged it in and it works. I don't get locals but I get everything else.
Do I still need to call D*?

I will assume that is hypothetical, so my answers are based on that assumption, no accusations are hinted at here.

That would be illegal.

So if it bothered you that it was illegal, yes, you'd have to call to let them know and be an honest person.

If it didn't bother you, and wanted to steal, then no.*
