So, whats the difference between this and a regular KU/C lnb? I was told you shouldn't bother trying to run both off one satellite?

A regular one as you call it, switches polarity with voltage. The polorotor as you can see in the video changes polarity electromechanical . The benefit is you can run 18V all the time to your LNB and fine tune the polarity to each bird.

Wonder how easy that is to mod? At such a low cost for a vbox seems like a fun project.
