I apologize if this has been answered a million times!! I did a search but could not exactly find my exact situation.

I currently live in Florida, subscribe to Directv w/ an older RCA Tivo (non-hd).
I recently purchased a home in Ga. My wife is staying here in Florida until the house sells. I'm going to Ga to job hunt while staying in the new home. Can I add a standard receiver to my plan and take it with me to Ga just so I have something to watch during this transition period?? I want this to be legit, without trying to pull the wool over DTV's eyes. I just want basic viewing. Once the house sells in Fl we intend to take the tivo to the new Ga house and continue subscribing. I also wanted to mention that we've never had the tivo hooked to a land line. We turned off our land line years ago and only use our cell phones.

Thanks in advance!!

Call Directv and ask their assistance, what you want to do isn't allowed but they can bend rules for existing customers. Retention department maybe the best at assisting you.

you can do this as long as the reciever is in your account and is accounted for. ive had a customer here where they live in TX and has a house in SD. hes got 2 recievers there in TX and 2 here in SD. his wife stays there while he does his business here for 4 months. as long as you got the reciever in your account and not under an account where it is someone else's.

you can do what is a mover's connect and they will set up a dish at your new home. you then tell the D* installer to install those "other" lines for the recievers you got in FL that will be coming when you get your house sold. but u do and shuld have at least a reciever when he comes to install so he knows its working when he leaves.

HOWEVER with your existing recievers, they are most likely gonna upgrade your system for free and you will need all recievers so they can swap it out.

lots and lots of my new customers have cell phone accounts and no landline services bc alot of internet comes through cable or satellite. i got rid of my landline bc its just another added bill to pay and i barely use it but a 5% of the time and thats when i do my conference call with D*
