We have been subscribers to DirecTV for about 18-months now. We originally requested 2-receivers and indicated we would be getting a 3rd TV at some time in the future and showed the installer where the TV would be going. We have finally purchased the 3rd TV. I called DirecTV to order the receiver and was told that there would be a $100 charge plus $49 for installation and that my contract would be extended for 2-years.

We do not want to extend the contract. Can we use the 2-recievers we currently have to support the 3-TVs? Can we move 10f our receivers to the new TV? What would be involved in doing any of these options?

Many thanks for any thoughts.....................Ray

:welcome to Satelliteguys Ray!

What they told you is correct, you would get a new two year contract with the new equipment. You may be able to get a better price from a different csr, but the contract extension would still be there. Did the installer wire the third room? If so, then you can simply move one of your receivers to the new location. If not, then you would have to run the cable. As to the way it's connected, please describe your setup. Is it a swm with only one cable from the dish? If not, how many cables are coming from the dish to your house?

Thanks for your help! We have a central point in the garage where the cable goes to all of our rooms. The installer brought the cable in from the dish at the other end of the house where the third outlet we want to activate is. He used the cable to this outlet to bring the signal back to the distribution panel in the garage. He used a splitter at this third location to do this.

If we want to use one cable box to control two locations is this possible?? This 3rd TV would be used rarely..............
