Adult Block/Parental Software?

My pre-teen is beginning to wander into the darker corner of the internet. I've temporarily pulled the plug. What are some good (preferably free) ways of blocking the stuff I don't want the kids to see.

I use the security from my Antivirus software. Kaspersky internet suite has a parental control, I turned it on and have it block all the adult sites. I am not really worried about deliberate surfing to bad sites, the kids are too young, but half the time you mistype a site you end up on a porn site.

I'm running windows xp on the computer she uses. I'm partial to firefox as a browser.
