Interesting that the Sox got Gabbard back:

Thu, 04/23/2009 - 4:51pm
Gabbard traded back to Red Sox
By: Rob Bradford
Kason Gabbard, who the Red Sox included in a deal for relief pitcher Eric Gagne at the trade deadline in 2007, has been re-acquired by the Sox from the Rangers for cash. The 27-year-old Gabbard has made five relief appearances for Triple A Oklahoma City this season, giving up seven runs over six innings. The lefty, who had season-ending surgery on a bone spur in his left elbow at the All-Star break last season, will report to extended spring training in Fort Myers. Outfielder David Murphy and minor leaguer Engel Beltre were the other two players sent to the Rangers, along with Gabbard, in the Gagne deal.

Chamberlain and Youkilis to Meet Again

By: Alex Speier
Kevin Youkilis has never been hit by a pitch from Joba Chamberlain, but the Red Sox first baseman has had three pitches sail in the direction of his head from the young New York fireballer. The trend has been noteworthy to Sox players.

"As good as he is," David Ortiz said on Wednesday of Chamberlain, "the next step for him will be to earn respect from everyone in the league...When things like (the pitches against Youkilis) happen, people get the wrong idea."

Though Chamberlain has never hit Youkilis, several of his teammates have. Youkilis has been hit by the third most pitches of any Yankees opponent since the start of the 2004 season. Four of the five most frequently drilled players by the Red Sox over the same period of time are currently, or spent significant time playing for, the Yankees. For more, visit the Full Count blog.

Texeira: "Lot's of boos."

On why he chose the Yankees: "the No. 1 issue for me was my family... it just so happened that the Yankees were a better fit for my family."

On what he expects tonight: "Lots of boos. Loud."

On red sox fans: "these people are great people. They just want to beat the Yankees... I would hope they don't wish phsical harm on me or my family."

On playing in Fenway: "I've always stunk when I played here. My numbers here are terrible."

On what appealed about playing for the Red Sox: "I love the city of Boston and Fenway Park... (And) the chance of winning: this team - I'm talking about the Red Sox - has a chance of winning every single year."

On notion that Red Sox might be upset: "I was close with all the teams (he negotiated with in the offseason...we gave everone an opportunity. I hope (the Sox) don't feel any ill will towards me or my agent... I hope they don't feel used."

There's also been a movement for silence and having the fans turn their backs when Leigh Teixeira's husband comes up to bat. Obviously that would be harder to coordinate but would be much more effective than booing.

As for Justin Chamberlain, I wonder if there will be any references to his DUI arrest last fall:

I like that! :up

But, like you say, that would be very tough to coordinate.

I hope "Alvin" hears it long and hard all weekend long!

LOL, I knew I could count on you! :) :up

I would have a lot more respect for "Alvin" if he just came out and said, "I went where there was more money". Done! But no, he has to give some BS story about his family.

I agree with you Bill. "the No. 1 issue for me was my family... it just so happened that the Yankees were a better fit for my family."

When Tex said that there should've have been subtitles at the bottom of the screen like those foreign movies that said "I went to the place with more money and the Red Sox can kiss my ass"!!!!

1-0 Red Sox!!! Joba having a little trouble. The slide Ellisbury made is something the Mets should try doing sometime. You know, just by that play you could tell Ellisbury is a gritty player.

It was nice to see Joba land on his fat ass!!!! Im glad he didnt get hurt, though.

My Two Cents on Alex Ovechkin

OK....the kool-aid has worn off....BENCH JaMarcus Russell!!
