considering all he wanted was the info for AMC4

AMC 4 101.0W 208.1 217.8 36.4 20.1

36 elevation
217 azimuth (E-W)
skew is +20 (you need to skew the LNB counterclockwise). Stand in front of the dish facing it and turn the LNB counterclockwise a little bit

As for the frequency
12169 freq
H polarity
3003 symbol rate

are you sure it's 36 elevation. I just went to look at friend's, and it's at 40???

as anyone set one up??

What kind of dish does he have?

Some dish are way off on their elevation markings 4º is not that much really. Always use the signal quality meter to get the exact elevation.

May the force be with you!

it's the same dish, 33 inch, with a universal KU LNB, i just don't know why i can't get it, i've done it before.

so that you guys know there is a house (2 storey), about 100 feet away. will it make a difference??

i'm also having a problem with azimuth, i'm using a compass, but i'm not having much look.

What should i do first?? elevation, or azimuth?

eventhough i've done this before, can you tell i'm getting frustrated? it's taking me two days to do this?????

Make sure to set the mast/pole level all round. Set the elevation and then the Azimuth. Once you have scanned the area in the sky the compass directed you to, add 2º to the elevation and rescan the sky. Continue doing that 2-3 times. Then subtract 2º from the original elevation and contine subtracting 2º from the elevation each sweep of the sky.

Most LNB's can see a spread of around 2-3º

Keep away from all metallic objects when using a compass, it will get you in the ballpark but your signal quality meter and a LIVE TP. will be needed to find the satellite.

At an elevation of 35º to clear a 100' building you would have to be 143' away from the building!

If you think you are close use blind scan!

If it is a universal LNB, make sure its set for the right LNB LO frequency
Universal
9750/10600

or set it to Single, LO 10600 and turn 22k on

"Keep away from all metallic objects when using a compass, it will get you in the ballpark but your signal quality meter and a LIVE TP. will be needed to find the satellite."

What's live TP???

and you mentioned blind Scan.... if i have no signal, How can i scan? I get nothing?

Signal quality is at 97%, but Level % is at 7% to 8%, no more.....

Do not try find to 12169 H (RTPI) first it's real pain to find that way.
Instead go for 11822 H (3ABN) it's always at 99% quality once find this transponder can you start to skew lnbf to bring 12169 H (RTPI) in.

RtpiFan :)

a live transpnoder is one that is on all the time. As we've noted, there are a few you can aim for. I would try RTPIFan's idea. Try and pick up 3Angels Network. Their signal is very strong and then you can get RTPi from there

just to make sure.... i go to 11822 (H), and do not skew the LNBF, leaving it at zero., once i get a signal i then go to 12169 (h) and skew, correct?

I apologize for so many questions....

12169 H is really hard tune if want to find amc4.
You should use 11822 H to find amc4 and when get you decent quality on 11822 H (3ABN) you can change to 12169 H and start skewing the lnbf until you get quality on 12169 H (RTPI).
