Yes but you have more options with fios, you can use the latest hd tivo in most cases, which is much better than any other hd dvr any provider uses.

Argue with yourself - I said there were plusses and minuses. Now go and discuss them on the FiOS boards please.

M$ SQL Server and Oracle 11g are two types of database software suites..

Yes I know this but the OP didn't say that. All he said was SQL which is not a brand of "Structured Query Language". It is the standard which all of them are based on.

man, these are the times i wish i was a nerd. i dont understand half of these posts and these numbers. :p

The frequencies are rather meaningless to most of us. The txp stands for Transponder. When you look at your signal meter, you will see various transponders on each satellite location. Consider each transponder as it's own mini-satellite. The less amount of channels being broadcast from a transponder, less compression is needed. For end users, more compression in the signal means more artifacting and less crispness to the picture.

assuming the uplink list is accurate, would it be safe to say they would activate all those stations (that are in our current package) then they "flip the switch"?

With the current track record for glitches, I am expecting ONE channel lighting up first and then waiting to see how it is recieved.

Considering how far behind D* is, I wish they would lite em all up and blow past the competition in one giant cloud of dust..

You know a lot of people assume that only people who visited message boards knew about the sept19 launch date. I have been stopped by at least 20 subs so far who ask me what happened. I personally asked them how did they know about the date, was it from DBStalk, satguys, or etc.
ALL OF THEM never heard of either place.
ALL OF THEM said D* themselves when they were called about the B-BAnd converters and Test channel 499. The Subs asked when is the ready date and they were told sept 19.

Now all the experts saying only the internet people knew is a not the truth. I may have only been asked by 20 subs, but how many other technician have been asked the same question?.

Thanks grydlok,

This is what I have been trying to say. Some folks have been blaming this on the "leaked document" which was posted here, but this uproar was not caused by this document, or by SatelliteGuys or DBSTalk, it was caused by the DirecTV CSR's who told everyone who called in that the 19th was the day.

Well I can say for sure that I was told the 19th by a retention specialist, but no big deal. My install date is not until mid-October so I can only hope that some will be on by then. If not, then "Houston we have a problem".

since this is the update thread, i thought i would put a real update here,,,, tomorrow monrning 6 am EST and every hour after that will repeat channel 570 direct tv will broadcast an Executive broadcast to deliver the latest information on the imminent HD rollout

I will have to agree and say that the HD quality from NBC is some of the worst HD I see (and I get it OTA and via Satellite)
I also get nbc from OTA directly to my sony tuner, E*** and my local cable from two different stations, and while something like earl will look great if there is no quick pans that is, anything that is bright with movement will always pixalate especialy the reds. Since nbc has taken monday night footnall and moved it to sunday night they at least should be responsible for a decent HD signal. anybody that does not think they have a problem should watch a rebroadcast of any football game or golf on UNIHD or NFLHD and you will see the same sorry quality. Maybe Satguys can start a movement to encourage them to improve " non violent of course"
