Most MPEG-2 video that is FTA is 4:2:0 - that's what your normal FTA box receives.

4:2:2 is a little different, and cannot be seen on a normal FTA box, however a Satellite card for your computer should be able to decode it.

As for this Anik, there are a few CBC feeds now and then, but little else on Ku.

AnikF1 & F2 once in a blue moon will have a few Canadian news feeds (City & A-Channel are the two big ones)

I wanted to get a ch called ACCESS that is supposed to be FTA according to Lyngsat but shne I scan it don't pick up any transponders and I know I'm in the footprint and also have a strong signal on a spectrum analyzer. Why is this?

DCII encryption

Everything on StarChoice is DCII (Digiciopher II). Our boxes only get DVB signals.

Access Network is in the clear, using a Digicipher 2 receiver.
Since you are in Canada, check out the used receiver market, and see if you can find someone selling a previously authorized Star Choice receiver at a good price.
Once it has been authorized, channels in the "free play" mode, which include
351-Access and 354-Knowledge Network, will work on such receivers.

Good luck!

There are a total of less than ten channels on Anik F1R which should
work on that type of receiver. As far as using it on other satellites,
you would have to re-map the channel memory, and are probably
asking for problems attempting to "explore" elsewhere. If that is
your intention, locate a DSR-905 sidecar that has been previously used,
and play with it. Less repercussions with memory issues.
