Any Word On Setanta Sport??

I can't ever recall a game on Setanta Xtra that WASN'T replayed later in the day on Setanta. My impression was that the advantage to the Xtra channel was that you'd be able to see a match LIVE, rather than delayed. I mean, it isn't as if there's a scarcity of air time on the regular Setanta channel (Fourth Division match, anyone?). :)

According to Setanta, Dish and ITVN customers will get any matches that show on Setanta Xtra on a delayed basis. They will show all matches that they have the rights to but some will be delayed. I asked about the possibility of using the alternate sports channels in the 440-450 range to show odd matches live and was told that SSC has no way to offer "odd" matches on one off basis on Dish at this time.

As it is, from looking at all the schedules that I have seen, Arsenal's match doesn't belong to either Fox or Setanta, so it might not be shown anywhere other than on Arsenal TV, which airs on GolTV.

That's fine, at least for me. As I said, I can't ever remember a match advertised on Setanta Xtra that wasn't eventually on Setanta.

As it is, I'm so happy being able to actually watch Setanta without buffering and being able to record it and grateful that Dish got it that I'm not going to worry about Setanta Xtra.

Don't misunderstand me: when Dish wouldn't carry Setanta last year my only option was ITVN and they were there when I needed them. Yes there was buffering and the inability to record (On-Demand didn't last long) but at least I had Setanta. However, it's really no comparison being able to see it alongside my other channels on Dish.

Oops, gotta go, third rerun of Celtic-Kilmarnock is on. :)

Thanks for the info guys. I am actually a United supporter, but my mate supports Arsenal, and I know he would be asking what the deal was. It doesn't look like United will be on Xtra this year, so I am as happy as could be.

I used to watch United on the P2P programs, but I am glad I will no longer have to. The buffering drove me crazy. It is a great option if you have no other options.

Thanks again, and happy start of the season!

Hey Evil Euro....what sources do you use to verify what games will be on what channels? Is Soccertv.com still the best?

Soccertv.com is currently for sale if you take a look at the site frontpage, the luck guy I guess he was the agent for 4 out of the 9 poker players on the final table of the World Seires Texas Holden tourney a few weeks back including the winner, and he has a busy schedule ahead now with marketing and endorsments.

The Arsenal-Fulham match will now be shown live on Fox Soccer Channel. Game time is still 7am EST this Sunday, August 12th. Americans Brian McBride, Carlos Bocanegra and Clint Dempsey all play for the Cottagers. McBride was just named team captain for the 2007-08 season.

I acutally use the station websites.

Fox always has two week's worth of full schedules on their website (and you can look farther into the future or past by changing the week number in the URL).

Setanta lists their programming on their website as well as the matches for SSC Xtra.

Those are usually the most reliable sources as well as Soccer TV.

Yup.... the match just showed up in the revised PDF that was on the FSC website. They're nice enough to show revisions in blue.

Thanks for the update, I will let my Gooner friend know. This is good news as long as United are still on FSC this Sunday.

Manchester United v. Reading is the lone match at the 1600 BST kickoff and will be shown live on FSC.

As it stands now, there will be 7 live matches this weekend. Can't complain about that.

Rugby World Cup?

We're interested in switching to a satellite provider because we want to watch the upcoming Rugy World Cup on Setanta - which is satellite only.

How is the service for Setanta on Dish Network? And has anyone tried to do a PPV service? I think the Rugby World Cup is PPV, but can't seem to get this confirmed by Dish. Anyone know?

Thanks!

Dish doesn't know anything about programming on thousands of channels !

Contact Setanta via setanta.com

Dish carries "Setanta Sports USA Channel" on Channel 406.

As Sentanta is free for now there is no need for PPV, but september 15th (i think) it goes to a pay channel, 14.99 a month.

Thanks for all the info! gbjbany, thanks for that link to the Dish PPV info. That's exactly what I was looking for. I guess the PPV/ a la carte "specialist" at Dish that I was transferred to didn't have access to this particular page on their own website. They couldn't tell me anything about it.

I did talk to someone at Setanta who said the package was PPV and cost $199, but that info is not on their website anywhere, and I neither DirecTV or Dish representatives could confirm or deny the information. I felt like I was in some kind of black hole.

We didn't want to switch over to Dish, just to be told we couldn't get the Rugby World Cup after all.

Thanks for your help. Looks like it's there - even if I have to walk the Dish representatives through the process myself.

Thanks for the info. I just tried to post a reply, but for some reason it didn't post.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for the link to the rugby PPV info - I wonder why the Dish representative didn't have that same info. Oh well, I'll direct them to that link the next time.

Looks like we can get it, but we may have to walk them through the process.
