Like 5 times in the past few months I've gotten legitimate e-mails from AT&T saying:

Hi Valued Customer,

For your security, we've temporarily locked your user ID. To unlock it, either reset your password online at att.com or call us at 800.288.2020.

Get more tips on keeping your account and ID safe.

Thanks for choosing us,
AT&T

Each time I go directly to their website, try to login and find that in fact I am locked out. I've reset my password each time, but frankly I'm running out of things to try. Their stupid system won't let you use special characters, so how are you supposed to make it more secure?

Anyone else having issues like this?

That used to happen to me when I tried to access my account using the DirecTV website. Since DirecTV is now owned by AT&T you have to login at the ATT website.

I've been locked out for weeks, which is really annoying since that means my DTV app won't work during NHL & NBA playoff season!

4 calls later (each lasting an hour), 2 chat sessions (each another hour), multiple password resets that I told them I've tried which doesn't fix the problem, 2 escalations which I was supposed to get a callback in 48-72 hours that never happened, and I'm still locked out.

I finally reached someone TODAY that seems to known what the problem and resolution is... apparently the link between AT&T and DTV has issues, and the resolution is separating, rebundling, and reauthorizing.

Which apparently takes up to 48 hours... so we shall see.

Ok, at least they called me back later yesterday due to my latest attempt, said it should be resolved by Monday and will call when it is.

Ok, they called me again yesterday, reset my password, claimed the issue still exists, created another ticket, said would be resolved in 3-5 days though someone would call me today with a status update.

Ok, no further calls, however I did just go in and try my mobile app again yesterday, and it worked, so whatever they did fixed my problem.

I haven't been locked out, but I have a different issue. Ever since they switched my account was switched to AT&T, a lot of the time the stuff like my bill amount will say "unavailable" or "there was an error, check back later" or something like that a lot of the time so it's basically useless. Perhaps someone is trying to gain access to your account?

I find that on my ATT Wireless side, the "Unavailable" when looking to see my bil unless I'm only a few days before its ready.
On the D* side, it shows correct anytime of the month.

Well young man you have an answer for everything... :biggrin Meant in a great way. From my experience in a little different way good information. I don't have Directv of course but do have Att wireless. As you say a few days before the bill if I go online I can get the unavailable depending when I try. But if I use the android app that gives current usage. So it isn't just the connection to DTV. I do not have the problem of getting locked out.

interesting, I use the Att app on my Android as well, but never noticed the difference, but havent really looked into why it happens, I'll have to pay closer attention.

As for having an answer for everything, hardly .... but I often have thoughts ... hopefully they help more than hinder.

Ya right .... nothing would be encripted ...

Doesn’t help matters when the system generates account numbers that are like 12345, 12353, 12361, and 12369.

Once you can guess the account number, it ain’t that hard to get the other information by playing CSR roulette to register the account online.

I used to have a hack with Dish where with a phone number I could look up an account number and customer name.

Then with the customers last name and account number, I could create an upgrade work order which gave me the customers address.

Then since it was an “upgrade” I had access to the all receiver information on the customers account.

I remember actually showing this hack to upper management at Dish in an attempt to score brownie points.

You can literally do the same thing with AT&T if you have a UID and access to OPUS.

Anything is possible.

This is where INTEGRITY comes in ...

I have all that info on every sub I go to every day ....
Then again, I don't look to steal info from customers.\

I suppose if I wanted to be fired quickly ....
