I already have a 60e starchoice dish mounted and no longer can use it for shaw direct. Looked on lyngesat and everything there is for shaw direct. It sure looks like the orby tv dish and I would like to set it up for the orby satellite service. The 60e dish lnb is the dual satellite that is tuned for 107.3 " and 111.1" satellite position. Since the orby satellite position is 117" I am thinking it might work on the orby satellite. Is anyone here tried it or can give an opinion if it can work? All help with this will be appreciated. solarvic

Yes, you can use a StarChoice dish. If you use the quad LNB that comes with it, make sure to use the left LNB as the Orby receiver now has 22k tone turned on. Though if it's the much newer lnb's, they might all be 10750 linear. It's worth trying, as at the worst you could change out the lnb's for a regular Orby one.

The dish may need to be re-aimed for Orby.

Out of the fta hobby for over 3 years and trying to get the cku lnbf to work. Think I will do c band on the cband dish and do ku on all my stationary ku band dish,s. If I can get the 60" starchoice to work for orby, I will have 4 primestar mounted dishs and a winegard that is on my tv tower. 1 primestar dish is a prodilin that had the plastic come off the feedhorn. Am wondering if I can clean the inside of the feedhorn. If I can I can put a primestar lnbf on it. All my primestar dish,s have the 2 wire h and v connections and I am converting them to 13/18 volt single wire lnbfs. This is my plan and if it works I will post the results. Thank you primestar 31 for your reply. Have you used primestar dish,s for fta? Some of the ones I only needed 1 polarity so the double wire lnb worked for me and I used a 22-0 switch , too many wires that way so why I am converting them to 13/18 v lnbf. Solarvic Yes I have solar panels that supply me with 100% of my electric I use in my home.

Today I worked with the starchoice dish. 60-e dish. It is made by channel master. The skew setting bolts are rusted so would have to drill them out. The scale for setting the skew is different. I think the pipe you attach the starchoice lnbf too is centered. When orby only wants $70 for their installation kit that it is hardly worth the expence to buy a new lnbf that works well on the 60 e dish. Since I have the bracket of the 60 e dish and the wire already there it is probably easy to install the new orby dish. Winter is setting in quickly here in west pa. and I can,t take too much cold so just going to order the orby dish and maybe I will see what the 60-e dish can do next summer If I is still living. One question I have is. Do you have to skew the 60-e if you use a lnbf that turns to get the skew?.

I tried the starchoice dish and couldn,t get the signal so bought the orby install kit and installed it. Out at the dish I had a quality of 99 and signal strength of 100. After I connected the dish inside I still had a quality of 99 but the signal strength dropped to 74 today and the quality was 82. Receiver still works without any dropouts but I wonder what it is going to do if it rains. If the signal detereates that much in 1 day I am not too impressed. I used new solid copper wire that has approved for direct tv.. I had to take my prodolin dish off the pipe to use that pipe to mount the orby dish. on. I wanted to get discovery, history channel and the hallmark channels. Looks like the discovery, history channels deteriated a lot since I previously watched them. I am wondering if orby is broadcasting the normal channels or if they seem to have pawn star, mom continuous and the barter channels. If I knew they were like that I wouldn,t have bought orby. So far I regret that I got orby.

You aren't making much sense with that post. Are you watching Orby's actual uplinked SATELLITE channels that you say "have deteriorated" OR are you watching your local OTA channels through Orby's receiver? Those may have "deteriorated" signal-wise due to whatever antenna you are using. Perhaps you need a better one, need to aim it better, need to raise it higher, etc.

We can't help if we don't get the information we need from you to help...

Which ones are you really watching? Orby doesn't provide locals via satellite, your antenna does.

I didn,t even connect the tv tower antenna. I have tablo players with hard drives so do not really need ota tv on the Orby as I was thinking it might further degrade the signal. I really do not think discovery history and hall mark channels are on broadcast tv. So it is the dish signal strength orby broadcast I was referring to. The picture of the referred channels is ok. What I was referring to is the content of the forementioned channels. Like marathon of 3 pawn star, mom and something else. I was away from using a satellite for a few years and it seemed the content was a lot more varied. If the orby receiver dosent drop out I will leave it where it is for the winter and install the dish closer to the receiver next spring .
