crazy
I didnt see a listing for the 54, just the HR-44.

Works fine, but remote must be set to IR.
I was in a hurry, and I did not see the HR-54 in the drop down menu?.....I am having problems trying to use remote and manully hiting channels with 3 digits(only takes 2 digits).....I will reset it and take my time!

All the HR series operate the same... again on the receiver make sure the remote is in IR mode... as normally today they are set to RF mode. :)

The HR44/54 operates in both modes simultaneously. You shouldn't have to set it one way or the other, yes?

Correct. The Slingbox uses IR but the remote will work in RF.

Make sure the Slingbox has clear line of sight to the receiver or use the attachment that comes with the slingbox.

As for performance, it's going to depend on the internet connection in both locations, up and down.

For the record the Slingbox is set to an HR-44 as there isnt a drop down for the HR-54( didnt see HR-17 either)...It works for 95% of everything, it doesnt like inputting manually 3 digit TV channels, 2 out or 3 come through....Work around is using guide to get to channel you need.....Powering on is glitchy, have to do it 3 to 4 times to wake it up....
But a great addition to anyones home, as its football season, got an invite to a womans home to get a home cooked meal, and I can still enjoy my game!
