Apple does not seem to really want to compete in the lower priced markets. They are dominating the industry profits. Why go to the effort of producing phones that have slim margins as long as the higher priced ones still sell?

Except that the cheap phones may cannibalize profits from high end phone sales.

I told my friend that discounts with phones will be gone someday and she doesn't believe me. Verizon finally gives you 10-20 off per line that has the Verizon edge because they're trying to encourage the program.

The phones aren't discounted. That discount is costing the ETF which reduces over time.

Probably from the Motorola Atrix 4G that had a fingerprint scanner and came out in 2011.
