Two part question... I have an AirPort Express connect to my stereo by my TV to stream iTunes. can the Express Ethernet port be used to connect the vip622 to its Ethernet port? And if yes.... how do I find the MAC address of the 622 since I have MAC filtering on my router? Or do I even need to?

The MAC address should be on a sticker on the back or bottom of the unit.

Can't answer the first question but it can't hurt to *try*.

if you have an extra Ethernet cable lying around, why not give it a try?

If you can't find the MAC address, just turn off the filtering on your router, plug the receiver in and see what the MAC is. Now right it down, turn the filtering back on, then add the number you wrote down to the allowed list.

Sounds simple to me.

Or you can just turn off Mac filtering, connect, then look in the router setup and note the Mac address you don't recognize.

Just turn off MAC address filtering. It's a false sense of security. Any hacker that knows how to get to your network knows how to get around MAC address filtering.

Airport Express and Extreme

Do you have BOTH the Airport Express and the Airport Extreme? To the best of my knowledge the ethernet port is not active on an Airport Express that is connected wirelessly to a non-Airport Extreme Wireless router. For example I have my AirPort Express(s) connect wirelessly to my Linksys Router and I can only stream music to it.

AirPort Express frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Thanks, hedbert... you are right. For this to work, I would have to use a Airport Extreme. With my Linksys Router, the Ethernet port is not active...
