Apple Announces new iPhone 5

Honestly would not bother me at all based on my previous experience with WP7.

I know that technically it is a new OS, but from a user perspective, it will be the same, with enhancements as wp7. Which intrigues me, as IMO, wp7 as an OS was as good or better than anything I have used (sales numbers be darned). iOS and android 4.0-4.1 included.

The apps (or lack of certain ones) are the main holdback. When I had my WP7 device I did not have my security system installed, so it was not an issue. Most of the main apps were there, so I could get by, and even wait, on the other few that I needed.

Now that we have this camera system, having access to it on the go is important. Deal breaker even. So until that app comes out, most likely, and unfortunately, I will have to steer clear.


Anyway, not trying to derail this one, just making a comment to my fellow phone whore.

A package arrived at the house via FedEX. The FedEx guy told my wife it was from Apple. She photo'd the box and texted it to me, with the caption "PORN"

Wow this thread moves fast if you dont check it at night lol, I have been stripping wallpaper and painting 3 rooms, so my nights have been busy.....but a couple things, I need to get some usb cables with the lighting adapter, one for my desk at home and one for my car charger but I think I am going to wait till a couple weeks out until the hysteria dies down a bit plus the fact that this battery lasts as long (well almost as long, 10 minutes shorter) then the maxx battery means I wont be plugging in often! Also I did order a otterbox and even lived up to my redneck name doing so:

cant wait to get hat bad boy in the otterbox so I know I am protected, you know its always good to have protection when your going into dirty places

I finally got my shipping info from Verizon. My phone left Memphis, TN at 7:48am today via Fedex Standard Overnight for delivery on the 21st by 3:00pm. I'm glad they used Fedex for me because our Fedex deliveries tend to come around 10:00am while UPS is usually around 5:00pm.

i just spoke with a verizon agent who told me i would not get a shipping info email until friday although i have an email confirmation of a friday delivery!

You're not missing much anyways. All mine has done is came and left the Memphis shipping center over and over again. It actually happened several more times but this is all that would fit on the screen at once.

Apple won't let it be delivered until Friday. I wonder if anyone in the Memphis area is able to go pick theirs up?

UPS delivery here. They actually have a disclaimer from Apple stating they cannot release it until the 21st.

I'd heard Verizon handsets came through Verizon warehouse, too.
Though, that may be only for Radio Shack pre orders.

Maybe they split the load, so as to not overtax the resources of either delivery company?

Mine is from Fedex ordered from Verizon. I think people who ordered directly from Apple are getting theirs from UPS. I don't know which one AT&T is using.

I know my Verizon 4S preorders from last year came UPS. This year they are sending me through Fedex. Like I said earlier I prefer Fedex because they usually come to my area around 10:00am and UPS doesn't come till around 5:00PM.

same here where i am. i definitely ordered the phone from verizon wireless online at the local corporate store.

I was just looking at the page where you can download the iOS 6 manually. Did Apple split the iPhone 5 back into two variants again? There's one for the iPhone 5 GSM and another for the iPhone 5 CDMA. There is only one listed for the iPhone 4S.

Yes. Sprint and Verizon got a separate phone this time. Supposedly the CDMA iPhones are compatible with European LTE but the AT&T one isn't.

I love my Apple TV too. I just wish it had HBO Go.

Add to it the ability to stream yur iTunes library, and the ability watch purchased videos. It is a great device.
