Approved Internal Hard Drives List

I have seen the posts about replacing the internal hard drive on ViP 622 DVR, but where does one actually find these mysterious lists?

I have searched this forum and all I found was the reference to the Seagate ST3500830SCE posted by Smith, P. and I have checked the Dishmod forum at Yahoo, but the list there is rather old and only goes up to 320GB drives.

Plus, when you replace the internal drive, I am assuming is it initialized by the firmware since we don't have a 'boot' cd or floppy disk.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe someone/a few people opened their receivers and found numbers but that doesn't explain the larger drives for the 622. I guess larger drives for the 622 could be what is currently in the 722. I was wondering about the formatting of the new drive also. Answers ANYONE??

There is a list of all approved HDD for 622/722 on the DISHMOD group in the YAHOO GROUPS.

How many times do I need to read them? "Try to use Search here - it was posted what model of 0.5 TB disk in 622HZ or 722." returns absolutely NOTHING!

Also, a search for "22-compatible 500GB drives" returns the exact same thing.

I feel like I have contacted Tech Support. All I get is one of their circumspect questions every time you ask them something!

You should calm down and accept that fact - only Seagate is available for public.
Other one, WD5000AAJS-57TKA0 is OEM and you could get it from existing 722.
