Ok, great! Thanks, Brittany for creating this thread.

I use a Phillips Pronto Pro TSU6000 Universal remote. I've been using it for several decades now and with the 612, 812 and Hopper 3 receivers over the 29 years that I've been a Dish customer.

Everything has been fine with my Hopper 3 receiver and my remote until the H711 update that arrived on my receiver on 08/13/26. Since then, the IR signal receiving/processing side of my H3 goes to "sleep" after 30-60 minutes of IR inactivity and I have since figured out that on HD and 4K channel viewing, I have to tap the View button on my Pronto Pro about every 15 minutes to pop the channel top banner to keep the IR side of the H3 "awake" and active. If I permit the IR side to go to "sleep" (about an hour or more of IR inactivity), I have to tap the View button on my remote anywhere from 5 to 45 times in order to "wake up" the IR signal processing side of my Hopper 3.

Oddly enough, this is not the issue with SD channels, where I can go as long as 3-4 hours without any IR activity and not have any issue popping the top banner by tapping the View button on my Pronto Pro.

Again, this was never an issue prior to the H711 firmware update on 08/13/26. I was having no issue with IR control of my Hopper 3 prior to H711.

Additionally, using my Pronto Pro works just fine (as it always has) with operating my TV settings and on/off, sound bar, A/V system, Roku Ultra, lights and blu-ray player.

I have a Logitech Harmony 665 remote. Since the 711 update I either have to hold a button down or push it constantly until the H3 responsed. I usually hold down the guide button until it works again.

I posted this 9/8.

"Hopper3 software H711. Since this upgrade there is a bug in the Hopper's IR receiver. The issue is with the IR receiver going to sleep and being slow to wake up and start responding to IR signals. Problem happens with remotes from OFA and Logitech as well as the Dish 21.1.in IR mode. Is this still an open issue?
Called support today. Half hour later I was told that IR is no longer supported. Tech refused to log a ticket to report this request. Despite showing him the hopper menu for remote setup ir on/off."

Apologies to OFA for believing the actual remotes were the issue.

Basically The Logitech remotes seemed to be dying. After finding this forum I became convinced the issue was Dish software, H711 and later. The remotes respond intermittently. Seeming to time out from elapsed time or if the Dish remote 54.2 is used.
When there was no respone, pressing any ir remote key repeatedly would eventually get a response. Also holding a button, such as Cancel, for say 30 seconds, would wake up the Hopper3

Customer for 3 decades. Ordered first Dish online from third party seller. Setup in backyard and walked wire down stairs to TV.

There are 2 main issues with both versions (H711 and H712) of the firmware.

1. The Dish Hopper 3 stops responding to IR commands. For example, when I run the Dish Network shutdown activity on my Sofabaton X2 universal remote after using the OEM Dish remote the Dish Hopper 3 does not shut down. Then I open the Dish Hopper 3 device from my Sofabaton X2 universal remote and press the 'Power Off' button and it still doesn't shut down. At this point I press the 'Power Off' button on the Sofabaton X2 universal remote several times (anywhere from 5-50 times) and finally the Dish Hopper 3 will turn off.

At this point I can turn the Dish Hopper 3 on and off using the 'Power On' and 'Power Off' button from my Sofabaton X2 universal remote. However, once I begin using the OEM Dish remote the problem returns and the Dish Hopper 3 will not respond to IR commands. This is very reproducible as it appears that the RF commands from the OEM Dish remote is causing some type of conflict with the IR commands causing the Dish Hopper 3 to become unresponsive to IR commands.

2. While using the OEM Dish remote we are still having the issue where the Dish Hopper 3 randomly goes into standby mode (green power LED on front panel turns off) and the little rectangular box bounces around the screen that says 'Press SAT to Watch TV' and when we push the 'Select' button on the OEM Dish remote it immediately starts working again. This occurs several times a day.

I will be leaving Dish Network once the last of the 3 DIRECTV Gemini Osprey streaming devices that I purchased is delivered on Saturday. After 8.5 years as a satisfied Dish Network customer this non-stop IR issue for the Dish Hopper 3 and the seemingly random Dish Hopper 3 device shutoffs several times a day has driven me to DIRECTV Streaming. I leave this final review of the Dish Hopper 3 IR issue in the hope that it can provide some useful information for the Dish Network engineers to get a handle on this issue and how to fix it going forward so that loyal remaining customers won't continue to experience this issue going forward.

This all started for me on around Aug. 10, 2026, when the firmware on my Dish Hopper 3 was 'upgraded' to version H711. I currently have firmware version H712 on my Dish Hopper 3, but that has not corrected the issue.

Prior to the firmware 'upgrade' everything worked perfectly with the Dish Hopper 3 and my Sofabaton X2 universal remote for almost 6 months.

I use a Harmony 665, and since that update you have to press a key multiple times for it to register on the Hopper as it appears that the IR function is sleeping and needs to be waken up. In my case this creates another problem as I am deaf in one ear and have hearing loss in the other and I use an Auracast broadcast from the TV to my hearing aids to hear the programs better, however, when someone in the room speaks to me I have to pause the DVR to be able to hear them (can't hear multiple sources) and because of the problems introduced with that Hopper update by the time the Hopper actually responds to me jamming the pause button, what ever was said is long gone (I get really tired of saying sorry, can you repeat that?) Please fix this...

I must comment about my experience with a 665 I programmed.

This is at our RV. Pioneer/Roku TV, Channel Master OTA DVR and Sony disc player.

I have to press pause twice for it to work. Same for right arrow when I'm trying to scoot forward. Maybe others, still testing.

So I'm not sure this is a Hopper fault. Maybe. I no longer have an H3 as I recently left Dish after close to 25 years. No hard feeling$.

I have a solution that is guaranteed to work.
All Hopper developers are required to turn in their RF Hopper remotes and use only IR remotes.

I guarantee you that the bug will be fixed in two days!
Try it; it will work! They will work 24 hours a day to fix it when the WAF goes into the toilet!
Excellent suggestion.

As I was testing 4K on my Hopper 3 running H713 10/7/2026 by watching the NLCS Game 2 on Channel 148-01, I had been using my Dish 52.0 remote to navigate. I grabbed my Harmony One and pressed "Info". This caused the Hopper 3 to crash and restart.

After it restarted, the game finished so I pressed "Options" on the 52.0 remote to access the TV Activity screen. I pressed Select on the tuner with the NLCS game active and arrowed-down to select "Stop Recording". Again, the Hopper 3 crashed and restarted.

After it came back up, I used Recall to return to "Maine Cabin Masters" and when I tried the Options button again, I saw that the NLCS Game was still being recorded. I selected the game, arrowed-down to Stop recording, and this time it stopped recording and didn't crash.

Since I was watching an HD program instead of 4K, I tried the "Info" button and nothing happened. The Harmony One has an IR active indicator when it's transmitting so I know I pressed the button.

It looks like the 2nd or 3rd time I sent "Info" from the Harmony One, the Hopper 3 started to respond again. If I used the Dish 52.0 remote, the Hopper 3 stopped listening to the Harmony One IR commands. It looks like "Info" needs to be pressed twice and that seems to reactivate the IR recognition on the Hopper 3. It seems to stay active, but I didn't try leaving the Hopper 3 alone for an hour or more.

I think you have it. If you start up with the Harmony and then use the 54 remote it confuses the Hopper because you went from IR to RF. It seems to get cranky when you want to go back to the Harmony.

I checked this and you are correct. My Harmony 665 remote worked fine until my wife used the Dish remote. After the Dish remote is used I have to push or hold a button down until the 665 starts working again.

I lost IR control of my H3 after the H398 update in September of 25. We were using the Harmony Hub remote system from Logitech. We have been using the H3 OEM remote to turn the receiver on and off ever since then.

H398 Software Version
BTW my bedroom H3 does not have this problem where I am using a Harmony 650. Also has there been any more feedback? Are they still working on this or what?
