AT&T may bid for EchoStar by year's end: Barron's

AT&T can bid on E* until they are blue in the face but it won't matter until Charlie is ready to sell. He holds more than 50% of the shares.

True but the specualation is that e is ready to sell for the right offer.

And yet another corporate HQ would be leaving Colorado. Hope they don't start axing jobs out here if this goes through, but that's usually how it goes when a company gets acquired.

So if ATT or anyone for that matter buys E*, does that mean that the new company will be able to offer distant locals again? You guys are always on here moaning about 60 or 70 HD channels etc, and I am stuck up here in Alaska with 10 HD channels on a spotbeam regardless of how many are available nationwide, and more distressing, I am stuck up here with the hideous AAD distant networks! The resolution on those channels is not worth disscussion.
