audio dropping on hr34

Greetings:

I wanted to check on an issue my mother is having with the client of an HR 34. Not sure if it is a c31 or not, but when she hits the previous or guide button in tbe remote, sound goes out and she needs to reboot to get sound back.

She called Directv this evening, & they said she needed a new remote...

This seemed a bit weird to me, so I wanted to check with the experts. .

The remote doesn't have anything to do with the audio. Sounds like a line of bs to me.
