I have been working on solving my audio issues with no luck. I have the H3 connected to a soundbar. Now when I turn everything on it bounces back and forth between "tv speakers" to "soundbar" until it finally settles on the "soundbar". The TV is set on "soundbar". Another issue is when I pause a show the audio will not work when I unpause it. I have to go back and forth until the audio works again. I swapped out the HDMI cable with no change.

I don't have any audio issues while streaming.

Just to clarify things so guys here can offer suggestions. how exactly is your H3 connected to your system? Do you have an hdmi going from your H3 to your TV and then another hdmi going from the ARC hdmi output on the TV going to your soundbar?

I have a hdmi cable going to the soundbar from the H3 and another hdmi going to the ARC input on the TV from the soundbar. It has been set up this way for over five years.

Turn off the HDMI-CEC control on the Hopper under Remote Control menu. My Buddy had a problem with his Fire TV Plus soundbar and his LG OLED TV communicating using his Hopper with Sling. It would fight for control and he had to go up to the TV and unhook the hdmi cable and then plug it back in to get it to sync with the soundbar and play out of it instead of the TV speakers.

The hopper was trying to control the hdmi connection and it interfered with the connection for the sound. He turned it off and now the TV turns on and connects to the soundbar without issues. He was really getting tired of that till I changed it and the problem went away.

He also changed setting so the remote control will only control the TV and its speakers and since the sound bar is hooked up to the TV it still plays fine. You don't have to control the sound bar with the remote anyway. Lip-sync issues are a different thing. He doesn't have that one.

Thanks, I will try that.

I tried everything and it did not resolve my audio issues. I even changed out the HDMI cable again. When I did this I unplugged the H3 and my soundbar to reboot them.

HDMI from your hopper should be in an HDMI port that's not ARC or EARC. the ARC or EARC port should have an HDMI cable going to the sound bar. id'e demand a new hopper ;)

I reconnected everything like this today. Everything is working OK so far.

Sounds like your TV, H3 and soundbar are suddenly not playing nice. The first thing I would try is connecting to a non arc HDMI input on the TV. You don't need arc from the TV if you have an HDMI running from the H3 to the soundbar. Arc can do weird things like what you're experiencing. If that doesn't work try using a toslink optical cable instead of HDMI to get the sound from the H3 or TV to the soundbar.

If your setup had been working fine for five years it was likely a software update that messed things up.

As a side note I've been seeing delayed audio when watching recordings for some time now. It can sometimes take 4-5 seconds for audio to start after starting or resuming a recording.

Pause problem

Hopper 3, where did the 540 4k channels go?? (148 now)
