AZBOX 0.9.5302-patch.bin update !

I'm still waiting for the blind scan fix they said they were looking into doing which would fix overwriting what you already had scanned in previously.

They all have it now! 1 a.m. CDT

Stargaze, the first site that had it listed is my least favorite place to go. That site hxxp://fw.azupd.com/ sends a person to a "mirror"! That is one of those download clearing houses for firmware.
I don't like those sites and I got burned once from using one by contracting an advertising virus - adware. I would rather wait until the next day and download it directly from the site that says they have it with no jumping around. I guess I just think that it is tacky that they are out there. They want you to wait to download certain files so that they can post up commercials for you to view in the interim and grab you IP and send you more junk. They are trying to sell you something crappy and I hate to watch or see that. I'd rather wait a day and get the same thing w/o advertisements and mazes to make a person walk through and especially without the flood of junk mail that may follow.

I understand that many people are impatient, but if we keep swallowing that garbage, they will keep feeding it to us. I don't like to go through multiple links of garbage advertisements to get what I want. I don't want to support that procurism.

Radar,
Not giving it out would be a greater injustice even if some do not particularly like the site where it is hosted.
I have never experienced the ads you speak of, but that may be as I do not use Internet Explorer but Firefox which automatically blocks the ads.
Also the way my system is setup, when downloading from a site that hosts a program Firefox automatically scans the download for viruses which again IE does not do. Host sites like those are not the ones responsible for viruses but it is the people uploading to them who may not be aware their system is infected that spread them.
The adware virus has been out for many years now and people need to understand you just don't click on every link that is on a web site.

I am not promoting one site over another, however, I believe we need to put the info out there that gives people the choice and to let them know where they can obtain the info they may want, and in this hobby, the more early adapters who report back on what these FW's do or break is always a plus especially for those who want to wait to get it off their favorite site the next day. :)

Nope this is the box I got from Rick at Gofast.

I will try it again tonight and load the USB from a PC instead of a mac, maybe that had something to do with it? (Although I did try doing it over the internet by changing the url to fw.azupd.nl and the same thing happened)

I have always downloaded the FW to the pc then loaded to a USB stick, and have not had a problem using that method.

These last couple of updates have not proved worthwhile for me to fool with.
I am kind of curious though what the updates did for "improved avi/xvid support".

It wont download from the one site (not the one with the "link to" option)

Tried it twice and it only downloads 25MB when its a 45+ MB file

If you have the Maz program on your pc try using that to download the FW to your computer.
I just checked using Maz 3.0 and the update is in there for downloading.

If you do not have Maz then get the User Guide in the sticky section and there is a page with some links in it where you can safely download a copy of Maz 2.3
I really did not like 3.1 so I stuck with my copy of 2.3 and it will update automatically to 3.0 when you first open it.
After it updates you should see in the firmware section of Maz the update 0.9.5302, just highlight 0.9.5302 and click on the green down arrow next to where it says Firmware.
I have just tried it out and it did download the full version at 45.9mb

I keep reading where ppl have had problems updating firmware but I've done a ton of updates on my AZ Elite from a USB attached 250GB EIDE hard drive and have zero problems to date. I start this process from the Settings menu and select update firmware from the USB hard drive and it then shows me the bin files there so I can tell it which one to load. It might hork up the next time I try that but to date it's worked every time. It also worked like that with my AZ Ultra that I just got a few months ago when I installed 5020 on that and I used that same USB hard drive for that one also. And BTW, that hard drive has a TON of movies on it along with EVERY firmware update that I've seen since back around 3800 something.

As usual though, your mileage may vary! ;-)

I think part of the problem is that the entire FW is not downloading properly for some people.
Radar noticed it in the last update and said when he looked the FW only downloaded partially not the full download.
I guess if your not paying close enough attention this can happen, not everyone thinks to look at the size of the file before they try loading it in.

Everytime I try ti update I get the message "Failed to Update." :(

It wont download from the one site (not the one with the "link to" option)

I checked the download from a couple of sources (I haven't checked the mirror). The site with the addy azupd.nl would again not download the full image file. It was counting up the % completed and got to 30-40% and then zzzziiiiippppp! right to the end. When I checked the file size, it was less than partial (at about 5 - 15 KB). Tried it several times.

I then went to the site with the addy az.evg33.ru/fw/ and it downloaded just fine. This was the same case for the last image file (5301). My quotes from the thread on that version below:

"Always good to have other options. For instance, right now! I tried to download 5300_1 and 5300_2 and 5301 from these sites and there is either something wrong with their files or their server. I can only download about 6-10 KB of the image file. I went to this resource instead: Index of /fw/ which allowed me to download the whole file. I am loading it up now to start testing."

"One bit of advice for everyone. Whenever you are doing an update like this, where you don't know what the outcome is going to be, power down and disconnect your HDD first! This will save you a lot of frustration."

"Also, directly from OpenSat technical support, it IS recommended to perform a format of the application area if there are significant changes in the firmware versions you are installing."

Please note: This new firmware isn't what I would call significant changes, not even the past few. They have all been minor adjustments and improvements in my book.

Radar that Index of FW is an Excellent Site, no slow downs - straight Downloads, great find since I've had lots of trouble on other Sites - thanks.
