BEV future plans

, but it seems to lay out all of BEV's future plans for expansion and their HDTV needs for the next 10 years:

With the exception of the 72.5 application, all Telesat applications were in response to Ciel and Dish applications for specific locations.

A number of things have happened since these applications:

1) Bell sold Telesat to Loral

2) Rogers overtook Bell as Canada's biggest telco (by market capitalization)

3) A pro consumer chairman was named to the CRTC

Due to Expressvu's inability to be able to simsub correctly, they have only gained 5% marketshare in the head end business in Canada.

Bell knows that they must focus on IPTV in eastern Canada to slow down customer defections from their core business.

With the new CRTC chairman, there may be less demand for future satellite capacity than earlier forecast as Canada may have fewer channels 5 - 10 years out than now. This will happen he sides with Shaw's request that the broadcaster must pay the BDU for bandwidth not the other way around for non OTA channels. This will eliminate much of what is now seen on Canadian TV - 17 to 25 channels showing the same shows.

The site listing has that as a November 15, 2006 piece of information (or filing perhaps).

You are saying that in the course of 75 days that BEV's world has turned upside down and their long term strategy is totally obsolete in that course of time

Regardless, I found the percentages of channels moving from SD to HD over the next 10 years as they laid out the satellite plans seemed interesting.

Wonder how long D*'s lease lasts at 72.5?

Does D* have a lease there or are they just parking a spare bird there and using it until the BEV bird arrives - which I thought I remembered reading somewhere but honestly did not pay close attention.
