BIRDOG 2.5 HELP

I need some assistance. I just bought a used Birdog 2.5 from a dishnetwork guy. and i was trying to update the program but wasn't able to. is there a trick to this? I used the cable and even got a special directv cable but it still didn't work.

did you download and installed the birdog program onto your computer? If not, go to www.birdog.tv and download it. once that is done, pick the satellites you want on it and update it.
