I see now that the offset lnb dish is not pointing at the antenna. You have two dishes right? Which dish receives which satellite?

I've read your long post (#12).
It was really useful and i could learn many things. Thanks for explanation
im interested to know that is this illegal for you to use satellite in your country?(because you have written about hiding the dish)

aviary (did I spell that right?)= that was right

i found some amazing information about there (i didn't know u keep pigeons on rooftop too)

Tim,

As Satellite AV mentioned, it is not illegal to use a satellite dish here (unless you are doing something illegal with it). The idea of hiding or concealing the satellite dish is purely for matters of aesthetics (appearances).

There are certain neighborhoods that have rules about how things "look". If you own an RV (recreational vehicle) you cannot park it in your own driveway (it has to be concealed or stored somewhere else), your grass can only be so tall and many strange rules.

To live in such areas, it is a status symbol and in order for you to be accepted, you must abide by specific rules concerning how your property is maintained.

They would never allow me to live in such places as I would not be accepted. I am what we Americans would call a "RedNeck" or a HillBilly. Basically, that is a person who doesn't abide by the rules of society. The first thing I would do if I lived in such a neighborhood is put a privy (toilet) in the front yard and plant flowers in it, just to make the wealthy neighbors shudder! They would certainly run me out of town! Ha Ha!

The notion of a toilet with flowers in it in the front yard is a sort of joke here. I wouldn't really do such a thing, but I thought you would enjoy the humor in the thought.

To return to your discussion about the interference issue... How bad is the interference? Can you pick up the channels most of the time, some of the time or nearly never? Are the channels you desire to pick up Ku-Band, Ka-Band or C-Band signals? What is the signal from the BTS antenna? Is it an actual broadcast of a government station or is it simply a noise generator? Is it a terrestrial broadcast antenna or is it an uplink to a satellite? I assume that it must be a terrestrial broadcast antenna to be interfering so much with your dish reception. The fact that the antenna is so close to you makes it worse to deal with.

Interesting discussion!

I'm surprised they don't block net access to the US from his location! I'll bet there is a "community" of satellite fans where he is, also, who probably has exact answers to his questions. (you can bet somebody has figured out the method of jamming they are using, and a way around it). Anyway, good luck in your endeavor, timmy.

As TurboSat mentioned, I am equally surprised that they would go to the trouble of blocking or interfering with the satellite reception and at the same time allow internet access to flow so freely.

It really makes me wonder.

I have seen a TV program (History channel I think) regarding the jamming signals they use near the 38th parallel in Korea... Reference this article: Radio jamming in Korea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Text_document_with_red_question_mark.svg" class="image"><img alt="Text document with red question mark.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a4/Text_document_with_red_question_mark.svg/40px-Text_document_with_red_question_mark.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/a/a4/Text_document_with_red_question_mark.svg/40px-Text_document_with_red_question_mark.svg.png.

Tim, personally, as a red-blooded, red-necked American, I am in full support of your endeavor to pull in the satellites for your entertainment and information purposes, but I certainly don't wish you to come to any harm, so please be very cautious about all that you do!

That is "cool" Tim! Although I don't know what "Zambiland" is, it must be a fairly good channel for you to be a bit excited about it! Of course you do realize that we do not discuss any pirate stuff here (I figured you were aware of that, but I just wanted to state it so that you would be certain). Sometimes the folks over in Europe or elswhere might think that they view it differently, but I think that we are all in agreement on this subject for the most part.

Don't take my comment here in a negative way, please. As a friend to you, I just want to ensure that you understand us, that is all.

Great to have you aboard our ship, in a matter of speaking! I certainly hope you are having fun here!

This is the best place to come to for your satellite information.

If the girls don't find you handsome, at least they will find you handy! RED GREEN

Dear RaDaR

i think you meant copyright law. The Zambiland was just a movie. I watched that in GEMTV.GEM is FTA. Also Im sure these channels buy movies (for example I cant see any logo of another channel in MBC package programs)
In addition I dont use any cracked version of applications(I use GNU/Linux instead).
but if u ask me about noise , I will tell you some exciting news.
since 2 days ago, after latest settings, I can what whatever I want without any problem. but about the other channels ,they are not available. I mean it writes the signal is weak.
now I think I have set a great configurations. the present settings are not completely right. I mean the dish is a little away than the correct azimuth.(was my mean clear?). and it could help me to receive the programs without any noise.

what does "If the girls don't find you handsome, at least they will find you handy!" mean ?????!! is a saying?

I can what
*I can watch

Hey Tim.

I didn't understand the "Zambiland" thing right off. I thought it was a TV channel, I understand now that it was a movie.

The quote "If the girls don't find you handsome, at least they will find you handy".

This is a saying coined by one of my favorite commedians/actors. He is from Canada and is called Red Green.

It basically means that if a man is not particularly good looking (attractive) to a woman, maybe she will find his knowledge attractive. It is meant to be "sarcasm in humor" since everything that Red Green does to display his knowledge of mechanical tasks and home repairs is done in a manner that only a lazy and crazy person person would do.

He uses 3M duct tape to make almost all repairs, including a flat tire. But, instead of patching the flat tire, he wraps the spare tire to the flat tire using several rolls of duct tape - the spare is not even bolted onto the car, it is just taped there! He makes the repair process appear to be entirely scientific and legitimate.

You have to experience his comedy show to understand it properly. He is extremely humorous! :D

Here is an example, you need to add http://www. as the prefix to: youtube.com/watch?v=xP3xiLKJ9_4 and enter the address in your browser.

Tim,

I had to think about what you stated here for a while to understand it, but I think that I comprehend it now.

You detuned your dish (misaligned it on purpose) to reduce the interference? Now, you are able to watch the channels that you really wanted without the noise interference, but some of the other channels have a very weak signal and won't lock on?

If I have understood you correctly, then that isn't too bad of a trade. It is a good improvisation. :up

yeah.it works and I didn't have any problem since latest setting.
It's good ,because I can watch my programs .but is bad, because this thread is finished .
although I found some friends here, I dont have any other subject about satellite. it could be good if we had a specific forum about general subject to discuss about our general daily issues.so I could be active more in satellite guys.( if it is not possible to have general forum in this website, I have installed drupal CMS on my website and I can enable its forums to have a general forum for satelliteguys guys. what's your idea?)
anyway, if i couldn't come here, please excuse me.
I learned many new things about satellites and installation.(specially Radar learned me some special things.)

Thanks for all of replies.
Have Fun
