Hello,

I am very interested in buying the Dish Flex Pack, which is currently listed on their website for $34.99 a month. I do not want to buy anything else. I don't want any add on bundles and I do not even want a DVR. I understand that a receiver only (the Wally) would be 0.00 more a month to use.

Therefore, can anyone tell me, about, how much my final price would be? I am assuming there are taxes and other service fees. How much should I expect?

Thank you!

I would estimate a tad under $40 and I might add, not a bad deal. Keep in mind if your an auto pay customer you save $5 which in turn drops your base to $29.99. I'm a longtime Dish customer (off & on, 5 years here, 2 there, another 3 here) you get the hint and still today believe them to be the best deal anywhere.

Whoa, what is this? I've been on autopay for years and haven't heard of a discount.
It’s under a promotion. If you have been with them for years, you probably remember when they waived the $10 HD fee, for autopay.

And frankly, for a one time $40 DVR fee (do they still charge that?) and a cheap EHD you can have skip back to catch something you missed. And you can pause the program for a beer run. Or potty.

Very easy, next to nothing to learn.

I set my MiL up with a DVR just for those two functions. As I expected, she eventually decided she wanted to see a program when she couldn’t be there to watch it. And figured out while she saw it in the EPG, all she had to do was press a button and it recorded it for her. She was around 80 then. And DVRs regularly today.

You can start small and cheap, and later add the EHD. And still be cheap. No added monthly fee.

Not quite correct ALL new customers with a Wally/211series receiver now pay a NON dvr fee on the account. So there is no way to avoid fees.

What a scam to waive a fee they pay nothing for to begin with.

The HD technology fees need to go in this entire industry on every provider.
Everyone charged a fee at that time.

And that was the HDFFL offer. We’re talking about the same thing.

I have one Wally with EHD, I'm fixing to add a second Wally in the bedroom.

Will this make my additional add on fees related to the extra box $7 (or whatever it's up to) for the outlet + an additional $5 for the new Wally?

Clarification would be appreciated.

I don’t think so. Have only had my Wally less than 2 months (replacing an H3) and they never added a fee to my account.

Yup, $7 for the additional Wally. The new non DVR fee is for new customers only.

Perhaps you could clarify that. Would a new customer with Flex Pack qualify for the discounted $5 per month non-DVR fee for two years? Or is the non-DVR fee $5 per month the regular everyday price for every new customer, regardless of programming package or whether they agree to a two-year commitment?

I don't know and since it doesn't affect me I don't really feel like searching for the thread on the fee but feel free to search if you want.

The thread on the fee never did go into that much specific detail, which is why some of us still have so many questions about it. One more question (which I know you probably can't answer, but I am putting it out there for anyone who might know the answer): If you close an existing account, how long can it stay closed and still have Dish allow you to re-open it and stay grandfathered for not having the non-DVR fee?

Thanks so much for the responses. If I have to pay for Wally, maybe I just pay for an actual DVR like the Hopper. Since I can get local channels myself, can the Hopper record my local channels too? Do I need to buy their USB Antennae instead of using my own? Or, is this set up going to force me to pay them for local channels?
