im an old dish network tech, and i have a 722 receiver that has bean activated by a customer. i want to know can i set this up for my own personal fta? if so what do i need?

No you can't, but the good news is that there are a few relatively inexpensive modern FTA HD receivers to choose from ( Openbox s9, Openbox s10, Manhattan RS-1933 ) . Most of the HD channels on FTA are on C-band, and that will cost a little more probably than a decent Ku band system ( unless you can pick up some free equipment ). What HD channels are you looking for, in particular ? May I ask ? FTA may not be to your liking, if those channels aren't available. Welcome to the forum young man...
