I have what I believe is a 36" international dish with a double LNB for standard programming. I now just got a HR21 receiver and want to upgrade my dish so I can see HD. Can I simply replace the existing LNB with the SL5 LNB or do I have to get a dish that has the word "Slimline" on it?

thanks for any help.

Some have done it with the older Phase III dish, but it's not as simple as just replacing the LNB assembly. As stated above the reflecting angles could be slightly off giving you less then good performance. To save yourself a lot of grief, just go get a slimline dish.

Thanks for the info. It's a spare receiver I got from a friend and since I have got only standard programming, I was trying to find a way to upgrade the dish without having to install a brand new HD dish. I guess replacing the dish with Slimlin is the only way to go ...

So are you telling us you are using an HD receiver off a friends account then???
Or, are you adding that receiver to your own account - if so, then you do realize you STILL have to have D* add HD access to your account... ;)

Also, you are aware that if you replace your international dish with a slimline, you will no longer be able to get those international channels.
