Hello i've recently got a dish 510
receiver for my birthday Today. Just for fun I wanted to connect it to my dish500 with a DP TWIN and (im not activating it) . However every time I got to point dish and select 110 or 119 there's no signal. When I check switch there's no switch found. Yes the 612 is on the same dish with good signal working perfectly for dishSCAPES. Can you help me?

Ah, yes, the 510....first there was the 501, then the 508 that I believe had a larger hd(?) Then the 510, which I believe was actually a 501/508 reworked by DiSH to remove DVR altogether for a barebones rx (?) There was always something.

I have asked whether there are still any SD rx's on DiSH (?)

So you're not getting the Hopper Duo you said you were getting for your birthday? The 510 was introduced in 2003 so the design is 22 years old. Also it is not MPEG 4 capable so you are wasting your time as there is very little if any MPEG 2 content left on the satellites which is why Dish started replacing the 510 as early as 2011.

This is what I thought - I didn't think the 510 could handle MPEG4.

Is it a splitter or is it a switch?

iirc you can't have a switch down line from any twin. It's been a while, I installed thousands of these back in the day but that was over 20 years ago! Took the first 501 that came in home with me, think it as April 2001. Loved that receiver.
