You can't use diplexers with a slimline HD dish, no matter how many say they do it and it works great. It'll probably cause problems down the road for them.

Run another coax for the outdoor OTA antenna. No big deal.

you're right. you can just add another coax but i've never had issues and don't know anyone that has had issues with diplexers and the slimline dish.had it on my first slimline with a swm 5 lnb and have it on my latest one with a swm 3 lnb. here's a link. http://hr20.dbstalk.com/Slimline%20SWM%20ODU%20LNB%20First%20Look.pdf.
Directv doesn't recommend it but that doesn't mean it can't be done.
 
They also recommend you use RG6 coax cable from the satellite dish to the receivers, but it can probably done with speaker wire.
 
You could have gone with E as they offer Lansing HD Locals.

yes you could of went with Dish, but with there on-going negotiations, I would not trust Dish for a second.

They lack so much content, no MLB Extra Innings, no MLB Net, no Yes Network in the NY area. And could lose FOX channels.
