Channel Scan vs Blind Scan

I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. Blind scan doesn't rely on any information already in my receiver. It scans the satellite looking for all possible transponders whereas "channel scan," as my receiver puts it, only scans the transponders already entered into the receiver.

Is that a fair assessment?

channel scan, transponder scan, auto scan (in most cases) just scans the TP's that are in there
blind scan finds them
